What was your very first car?
My very first car that I paid for is the car I currently drive (2009 BMW 328) Paid $8k cash with 67k miles on it (brought from the first owner in April of 2019). Before the BMW, I drove my parents' 2013 Honda Accord EX-L that they brought for my sister after they sold their 2003 BMW 330XI ( my parents passed the BMW on to my sister when she started college in 2009. Then sold the BMW in 2013 and brought the Honda Accord and let her use it). I drove the Accord from 2015-2019. Now my dad drives the Accord after selling his 1998 Toyota Camry last year and buying a 2018 E-class for my mom (though she hardly drives )

My first car was a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T 5mt
I miss that car dearly even though it was riddled with issues and cost money every single month just to keep running.

2002 Pontiac Grand Am SE in forest green. Shit car but I loved it lol. We picked it up as a surplus insurance adjuster car, they had a lot full of them in different color/trims. I remember intentionally picking up the one with a CD player, spoiler, and keyless entry. Those were the days haha

Mine was a ‘79 BC Mk2 burnt orange Ford Escort Ghia which cost me $5k in 1984.
It was a 2lt rocket by the time I was finished! It was blueprinted, ported and polished, 30 thou over bored with a twin cam Cosworth head. I put Scheel racing seats and a roll cage in it along with all other bits and pieces. It was a beast and used to wheelstand, until the floor fell out if it. I’d buy one today if I had the space. 1984 Dodge Colt Turbo GTS. POCKET ROCKET. Fast as hell with horrible torque steer and twin sticks...

As a Junior in high school got my first car, a 1999 Honda Civic Si in Electron Blue Pearl. Loved it. Apparently after only owning it about 3 years, thieves loved it more and was eventually found stripped in Tijuana, MX.

My first car cost $350 and was an originally a black Datsun 310gx, that I had painted for $199 at Earl Schieb.
Dogleg first gear used to screw up all my buddies when they drove it.

VW Beetle, of course (I think a '63)!
I actually absconded it from my brother when I got a post-HS job. You could see the road go by through the rusted floor boards! After a couple of paychecks (& a small check from Gramps), I went looking for a better Beetle, but found a '69 2002 instead ($900.). It had rusted front fenders & smoked a bit, but hey, I was on my way! Murf |

2000 BMW E46 316i
I was late with getting my license, and only got it 3 years ago, after getting my license I had roughly 2500 euro left. So bought the car for 2k with 203k KM on it. It ran absolutely great, but wanted something more fun for the summer. Bought the Peugeot 307cc last year. Runs great, with good weather it's a pleasure to drive. However it's slow as hell (only slightly slower then my e46), less comfortable then my e46 and definitely not as attractive. I've been saving up though for a solid E93, so will be buying 1 in the next 1-2 months. Just not sure on the 330 or 335. |

1987 Toyota Tercel coupe. 5 speed, crank windows. It was the turbo model (in other words, it had AC. If you turned off the AC you went from 63hp to about 64hp) LOVED that car - I lemon Pledge'd the dash and kept it shiny.
....the next 10 years were all MR2's, except for the random Miata |

1978 Ford F100 short bed standard cab 4x4. What a beast.
It had the 400ci Cleveland V8, what a lump of .... The previous owner had either run it out of oil, had never changed the oil, or both. It started consuming pushrods and by the end of my 9 month ownership of this conveyance, it was running on six cylinders. Adding to the pushrod situation was a severely leaking fuel filler neck (a half gallon of fuel sloshed out on every turn), and worn out front manual locking hubs. In the end, I sold it for a fraction of my investment. And the transfer case was stuck in low range. But I put a sweet manifold-back custom dual exhaust on it, tucked up against the bed for proper off-roading. Last edited by chassis; 01-03-2021 at 11:38 AM.. |

I was 17 in 1987 and my first car was an 1983 VW Rabbit GTI. In many ways the most fun car I have ever owned. It only weighed around 2k lbs., no power steering, handled great and with the low hp could drive it a lot of the time at limit of the powertrain.
Modern cars weigh at least 1k lbs. (if they are light), insulate you from what is around you and have so much power that you rarely get to use them to their potential.

Got my first job at 14 and saved all the pennies. By the time I was old enough to drive, I had already sold the Wrangler, bought a pristine ‘88 K5 Blazer, sold it, and got a 2002 Mustang GT. So I guess my first car was a Mustang? |

1993 Honda Prelude VTEC. Bought it in highschool back in the 90's (stupidly worked evenings and weekends just to pay for it). Awesome car though...bought 3 since then and one just a few years back for nostalgia.

1967 Camaro that I paid $1200 for in 1977.
Sold it for the same amount 5 years later with a blown engine and cracked sub-frame to someone who wanted to turn it into a dragster.
