Stripped valve cover bolt hole.
So I removed my valve cover and when I was removing it I did feel that the bolts that also connect the valvetronic bracket were loose, and when I went to put it back on at first there was normal resistance threading them back in but then at the bottom one of the is just turning freely while the otherone, the one I was afraid of thightening to torque is "hand tight". What can be done?

Sell it before it catches fire
![]() ..well, if there's enought metal your best bet would be rethreading the hole by hand, if it's gone too far a helicoil will fix it, but it's not THAT straight forward. ![]() Being in the head you have to be sure that no metal chips are going to jump on those shiny cam lobes and all the rest, maybe you should contact an indy mechanic and have him do the repair without moving the car. Avoid running the engine with a loose valvetronic motor, if it eats through the rack on the shaft you'll look for a very expensive repair.. |

Heli-coil will work, pita process. Professional machinist, I hate doing thread repairs on non ferrous metal. Sometimes it is easier to go up one thread size if you can make that happen. If it's an 8 mm go to a 10. Tapping threads is easier than the heli-coil procedure. Ric
