Couple Questions: Upgraded twins/single and boost limit
After a long road, I'm finally toward the end of getting my new built motor all sorted out, tuned, fueled etc... it looks like the Pure stage 2 "high flows" are now the limiting factor. After the built motor, I figured they would run to 30-32psi and I'd be done, but what we're seeing (E85) is they seem to max out around 27 to 28psi before we start having issues with things like too many timing corrections, misfires etc. So then I googled and it does seem like even for the high flows, around 27ish is they're safe max. I also have stage 4 race heads, so the boost# is probably lower than it would be if I had stock heads.
My question is, I saw a dyno post on this forum recently where someone had the 6466 turbo and it was running 33psi (like around 800hp!). Is that car's ability to run that much boost simply due to the turbo difference of the 6466 and my PS2's? The most boost typically from a stock turbo is around 19psi; i wonder what it is for E85? My twins are leaking just a bit of oil, so I'm pondering whether to get them repaired, or move to the 6466 (suggestions on a kit?). I've heard single turbos setups take more ongoing "tinkering" and tuning than twins do - any thoughts on that? The thought of a 6466 setup makes my mouth water lol... but I don't want to have that "never satisfied" bug but I'll admit, I'm a little bummed at the 27ish wall after putting this stout motor in the car Was hoping for around 30psi and 700hp.

No, when I replace these I’m pretty sure I’m going to a single, probably 6466. |

RWD would be always faster :-) On the PSI limit, that would depend on the turbo as they move different amount of air at same PSI, so the HP output would vary as well. I have n54tt and n54st (small 5862) and the ST makes more power at identical PSI because moves more air.

Well I disagree and will not start another AWD debate sorry. As for the turbos, I have a setup making around 650 Awhp now. I sure won’t be switching to a different set of twins that would be very similar... Does anyone know the max boost E85 is good for? 93 with upgraded twins is around 93 but I saw a 6466 setup running 33psi on E85 on the MD log thread on this site... |

With a built n54 motor and head a 6466 is the smallest I would go, assuming you can fuel it of course
All twins based on the factory twins run out of steam around 700whp regardless. Above 700whp is single turbo territory basically. A 6266 will max out at 800whp basically on 100% E85 leaving you no room for more. So consider that in your single decision.
