Limp mode after Fuel pp replacement - 29.2?
I took my car in to the dealer last week to have oil and fuel pp replaced. Car did not have 29.2. My Procede had been off the car for about 6 months prior to the visit. The Procede has not been installed since my visit. Since yesterday I have been getting limp mode when I try to accelerate with just a little bit of gusto. It goes away when I turn off the engine and will not come back if I drive like my grandma. I asked the SA if they did any ECU programming. He did not know and said nothing was indicated on the service record. Thoughts?

When working on the high-pressure fuel lines or injectors, all recommended steps in the repair instructions must be followed. It is essential that all ignition coils be removed (on 8 cylinder engines - all coils of the appropriate cylinder bank) prior to any repair work on any component of the high-pressure fuel system. The ignition coils must not be contaminated with any fuel residue! The electrical resistance qualities of the silicone material are reduced considerably once in contact with fuel. This, in turn, can result in the failure of the ignition coil. This also means that the spark plug shafts must be protected from the ingress of fuel with a shop cloth during repairs. Before removal or reinstallation of the ignition coils, clean the spark plug shafts with compressed air and inspect to ensure a high level of cleanliness. |

ignition coil failure? Do you mean that when the fuel pp was replaced the did not do it properly? I only get limp mode when you get on it a little bit. It seems normal at lower acceleration levels.

one of the signs of HPFP failure is limp mode anytime you give try to accelerate and the HPFP can't deliver the goods. But it could be anything - something isn't making the grade when you ask for more power and limp mode cuts in to protect the engine.

So they put 29.2 during the service visit?
You cant run the same version of the PROcede map pre 29.2, you might be throwing the Warranty code/limp since you are on 29.2 and not running the doomsday map. |

you know what..i have the same exact problem
when you get on the gas it's fine but when slowly accelerating it will hesitate 'til 3k rpm i thought it was an injector but faulty coils could be the problem (note this happened after hpfp was replaced) ill check them tomorrow edit: i also have the old program |

following back - root cause was the technician after replacing the fuel pp did not install the turbo ductwork properly. I had a leak that was causing low turbo pressure and the limp mode. Good as new now.
