JB3 V1.1 Limp Mode

Got my first limp mode with the JB3 V1.1. I have been running it for two weeks. Here was the scenario:

I was cruising in the left lane on I-95, stuck behind a slower moving car. They pulled over to the right, I down shifted from 6th to 4th and got on it a bit to get by them. Got the 1/2 engine light and limp mode as I was passing them. I pulled off at the next rest stop turned the car off, gave it a minute and re-started it. Drove another 10 miles with no issues.

I am running 93 in it, so I don't think it could've been the gas.

Anyone else have any limp modes?

By limp mode, you lost boost (and about 100hp), right? Not just a light?

What tune? Probably best to answer in your thread since this one should stay related to the OP.

Just flip the switch down to low boost map and run that way for the rest of the tank. Giver er another try back to normal high boost on your next fill-up.

2nd....I feel that esp here in California we have inconsistent gas quality...Whenever I fill up with Chevron NO ISSUES, but there is this Unocal 76 near my house, and the two tanks I have filled caused half engine light, but it could be conicedental, I am going to only fill up at this Chevron to see if my issue continues.

Terry is working with Rich over on the n54tech site. We believe that it's because the chip is the 1.1 beta. I sold Rich my JB3 before 1.1 was a final product and I included the 1.0 and the 1.1 chip that were available at the time of sale.

I sold the JB3 on October 5th and on the website, the 1.1 final was released on October 9th.

I/we don't know for sure just yet what the cause was since the OP hasn't checked back in yet... but I do know that I had a very early beta chip. We all know there are many things that can cause this issue (fuel pump, bad gas, etc). so I shouldn't jump to conclusions...

I was just offering my help in what I know about his tune since I sold it to him.

This sub-forum alone has more issues with "bad gas" than I have heard all other places combined in my life.

And it's clearly not limp mode because JB products don't do that. Ever. If you don't believe me, just check their website. It's even in bold.

I had experienced the 1/2 engine light and loss of power.

As timtech mentioned the JB3 had the beta 1.1 software, so I have ordered the Production 1.1 software and will see if that solves. it. I was told there is a known issue with beta 1.1 that can cause my issue under heavy load around 4K rpms.

Lol, relax guy. It's a jab/humor. Welcome to the interweb.

Oh yeah, I still stand by what I said. Way too much bad gas in this forum and NO product is error free. Ouch. I sense a ban coming for me for those harsh, argumentative words.

I'll get back to you with a full report on my reprimand.
