Pilkington glass suppliers?
So, I am back and forth with the shop that will be replacing my windshield due to small crack. I am insisting on Pilkington glass, but they said none of the suppliers have it.
Does anyone know of a source I can point them to? My insurance only covers aftermarket glass and I don't want the XYG stuff. |

I've heard that St. Gobain or Sekurit glass was also used as original equipment. Had the wifes windshield replaced a couple years ago with Sekurit and it's nice and distortion free like an OE glass. My RWD 335 came with some other aftermarket glass and it's got a slight distortion just right of drivers center vision, so I understand the concern.
You could insist that you inspect and approve the glass before they install. |

I would take St Gobain or Sekurit too as those are quality OE suppliers.
Yes, I am worried about getting glass that will not perform as well as OE and will have no recourse, but to live with it until the next rock chip takes it out. |

Sekurit is primarily used on MINI's so if you're able to find one for BMW, should be good.

I called a couple of places besides the shop that has my glass claim work order. All with the same result: XYG or Fuyao are the only ones available from their suppliers.

I just heard back from the shop and the additional cost for BMW OEM for me is $130, so I'm going with that.
