Lucid Air "Release Candidate"

Lucid Air moving closer to production.
Finally a Tesla I would actually buy. Do not disappoint me Peter Rawlinson.

Nikola, Lordstown (Hindenburg)
I hope the Lucid isn’t running on a Tesla drivetrain...

It isn't:

But what is your problem with the Tesla drivetrain? It is the one part of the Tesla package that has always seemed, to me, to be bullet proof.

My point was both Nikola and Lordstown ( both electric vehicle startups ) have been knocked by claims of fraud by Hindenburg Research.
I hope Lucid Air is a different beast and as Nikola rolled a truck downhill to claim their propulsion system had been developed, hope Lucid is using their proprietary drive train. Tesla drivetrains are impressive.

Really rooting for Lucid. And the engineers at Lucid mostly came from Tesla so I'm pretty sure the drivetrain will be just as good if not better.

Got to see it up close at their store in LA. Pretty cool looking car inside and out. It's absolutely massive however.

I so want to see these in person, they need to hurry up on production and make it to the East Coast. Lucid and Rivian are definitely the companies I'm rooting for. And according to Jason Cammisa who got to talk to the Lucid engineers, apparently their benchmark for chassis tuning and handling was 90's BMW's (which some of the chassis tuners/engineers also own) so hopefully that means this will not only be super luxurious but also good to drive.

They've been marketing it as an S-Class competitor so it definitely makes sense that its big, although its close to a foot shorter than an S-Class or 7-series on the outside. With the EV specific architecture and stretched wheelbase they were able to give it the exterior dimensions of an E-Class while maximizing interior space to still rival that of an S-Class. Should be an interesting car, especially because its developed by the ex-head engineer of the Model S.

If Lucid ever does come out with a car, I personally would not be an early adopter. Legacy manufacturer like Porsche still have not gotten the niggles out of the Taycan and also having experienced Tesla from 2012, there will always be issues. The newer the company the more issues you will have. It will come down to each person's tolerance level to problems.

Building a prototype is a fraction of a part of the total problem. I think sales and service will be a bigger issue. Have they said what they plan to do about this issue? I think the number that will buy a daily driver where service isn't close to them is very small. They also have a far bigger issue than Tesla did 9 years ago as they were the only option in the luxury EV market. This benefit went on for years.
