Replacing eccentric sensor. What to buy?

In the middle of replacing a valve cover on my 2007 328i.

Pricing seems all over the map. Looking on amazon Canada, between 90 and 700 Cdn for one.

Rock Auto is 112 to 420.

Obviously don't want to pay more than I need to, but also don't want to dig back in.

Found a little bit of oil on the sensor plug. Still not sure how much is too much.

Any oil on the sensor plug is too much. The sensor has been breeched and is faulty. I tend to pay for at least OE especially cuz I don’t want to have to redo the VCG job if the aftermarket sensor doesn’t hold up.

VDO is the OE sensor mfg.

Well, RA has the VDO one as the second cheapest. $40 less than Dorman and ~$200 less than the most expensive, so I like that option. Still double the cheapest, but I'm okay with that.

If I have a valvecover coming (from RA) will it include the valve timing solenoid gasket? That is what was leaking bad on mine.

Hoping to get all parts this week so I can put things back together. But local auto store wants $600 for the sensor.

I think if you got OE/OEM VC, it comes with the valvetronic motor gasket which is what I think you’re referring to.

Rock auto usually has legit stuff so I wouldn't have an issue buying a VDO one from them, specially if it's significantly cheaper than fcpeuro (idk how). If it was similar then it wouldn't even be worth it due to not having the lifetime warranty.

I personally had oil in my sensor plug because when I replaced my valve cover I kinda reused the old sensor gasket as I didn't have a new one, replaced the seal and cleaned the sensor plug about 20k miles ago and no issues so far. But since you're in there and don't wanna deal with it again it's a good idea to replace the sensor. Also depends a lot in how much oil is on it.
