AGM battery

Hi, I'm trying to find an alternative to paying over 200quid for a new battery as my e92 325i 3.0 has cost me a couple grand in other parts the past 6months

I know it needs to be an AGM type. My current is a BMW 80ah 800cca, just wondering if anyone has found any decent alternatives for a bit less?

Any AGM 115 type will suffice (just check the measurements of your existing battery to be 100% that its the same).

I got a YUSA YBX9115 for about £90 a year ago but everything is out of stock at the moment it seems.

Make sure you register the new battery.

If you have a trade card halfords are a good bet.

Yeah you're right they're hard to get hold of. I've found an Exide AGM (identical figures), from a battery shop for 120ish which is looking like a decent option. Halfords don't have the one I need in stock locally unfortunately.

And I have a mate to register the the battery so all good on that front

I bought a Bosch S5 on ebay brandnew 2 weeks ago for £150 including a £30 ebay/nectar discount.

The one I've bought is the exact same rating as my original. Did wonder if it was worth getting the extra ah.

Not that it's an issue for me, I realise battery change needs to be registered for discharging etc... But is there really a need when you replace with identical CCA/AH? Surely the car runs it to the previous identical?

Unfortunately it doesn't work like that. You will have to register it as it's a brand new battery. It's a super simple process on INPA software.

The reason you need to register a new battery is so the intelligent battery sensor knows how much charge & the condition of your battery & how hard the alternator needs to work to keep the battery charged, as well as many other things

2010 BMW 320d  [0.00]
I replaced my battery today and registered it using Bimmerlink. Fairly straightforward but a pain to get the old battery out and the new one in due to the lack of space, the assortment of cables and the sheer weight of the thing!
Registering with Bimmerlink was actually really simple and quick. Turns out the battery had never been replaced (or registered) in 11 years and 94000 miles. It's no wonder I was having issues!

i sold my e46 330d 2 ad half years ago,,had original battery on still and worked fine,,did let it go flat once with lights left on,,mates garage gave it a boost and was fine still whn i sold the car.157k miles and 16 years old

The battery in my E93 330i is starting to die. The OBC has shut down 3 or 4 times - a sure sign the battery is on the way out. Only doing 7 miles to work & back doesn't help. I've helped keep it alive with my Ctek charger but the inevitable is approaching.

I believe it's the original:



I assume it's an AGM battery.

Finding a 900CCA model seems difficult - is an 850CCA much of a drop?

I think it's an 019 that's in now (getting to it in an E93 is a pain).

I'm favouring Varta or Bosch from Tayna Batteries.

Best thing is to go off the measurement of your existing battery and confirm what type you need.

There are so many different variants its the only way to guarantee it'll fit.
