Hello from a new BMW owner in NJ

Hi all, just wanted to say hi, as a new BMW owner

So about two months ago I finally caved and bought a BMW. After a week of trying to find the car I want, considering whether to CPO or not, ended up with a 328i sedan 6MT black/black with sports package.

After week of going back and forth with Open Road BMW, I drove to Princeton BMW and bought the car on the spot, $500 over invoice. Contrary to what I have heard about the dealership, I was actually pleasantly surprised.

I got an excellent deal for the trade in on Mazda 3 GT manual (i was lazy, didn't want to sell privately), and overall it was a good experience. I dealt with John Major, good guy, did all he could to get me in the car. I didn't have to deal with any add ons either - the only thing I bought was the wheel/tire warranty for $750 (5 yrs). All in all I can say Princeton BMW was a good experience overall.

Open Road on the other hand...glad the deal with them fell though. After hearing long over drawn lectures about how hard it is for them to find manual transmission, and they have to flat bed the car from another state...and they will have to charge extra, I would have pretty much paid the same as I did with Princeton BMW but without the sports package. What irritated me the most was that I made some calls and found out that there were 3 manual transmission that I wanted within a 35 mile radius.

This was the fourth Open Road that I had bad experience with, before that with Open road, Mazda, Honda and Toyota.

Congratulations on the car and welcome to to the board. Seems like you have pretty much the same car as me. Now be ready to be tempted to spend some money on mods after seeing the cars on here. I recommend getting some blacklines to start out.

I second the complaints about Open Road, just weren't too pleasant to deal with. Post some pics when you get a chance.

Congrats

John Major is a great guy. He used to work with me at Flemington BMW but it was a far ride and we have to work more hours so it made more sense for him to go there. If you see him tell him Ryan said hi. Great choice on car

Thanks guys, my name is Ben by the way.

I will put up some pictures sometimes this weekend (hopefully).

I went to Boston yesterday in my new car, it was a great drive through Merrit Parkway. But the drive back today with the temperature dropping to upper thirties, and raining, I got really worried with the summer tires. My winter set should be arriving from Tirerack soon.
