I had to look it up because... Dyngus Day. WTF?

Dyngus Day always falls on the Monday after Easter. It is the annual post-Lenten bash which attracts tens of thousands to Buffalo, New York to celebrate spring, show Polish pride, flirt with pussy willows and listen to the best polka bands in the nation.

Going back to olden times when cavemen whacked a chosen women they wanted over the head then dragged them home may partly have an inkling of something to do with this long standing tradition.

FWIW, I'm not one bit Polish, but you bet your dupa that I'm Polish on Dyngus Day.

My employer gives Easter Monday off as a paid holiday for logistics reasons, except this year because COVID changed the logistics. I put the holiday on my calendar as Dyngus Day, and make sure that I have kielbasa and pierogies to celebrate.....

Earlier on today my 10 year old daughter was playing up and irritating my 5 year old despite my warnings to calm it down...and I just picked up a bottle of water and threw some on her and asked her to cut it out.
An hour later while I was watching TV she came up from behind and dumped a litre of ice cold water on me.
Must have taken on my mrs who is polish. We partook in a tradition without even realising it was 10th of April which i now do after reading this post..how coincidental is that.
