LeafFilter - Any experience?
I was just looking into someone to clean my gutters and I received an offer in the mail today. It says they clean, realign and seal current gutters and then do install. Does anyone have these? Any feedback and experiences appreciated.

That’s the one! Thank you.
I’ve seen the commercials too and read the reviews. I always prefer actual experiences. I’m from NY, I don’t trust much. Lol. Just not having to deal with cleaning them every year or two sounds worth it. I’m going to call and get an estimate but would love first hand experiences. |

I bought Gutter Guard last year from Home Depot and installed it myself. Saved me a ton of hassle this past fall. Would recommend.
Before that I hired someone through Amazon Home Services to clean the gutters. I liked that approach since if they did a bad job (which they didn’t) I was dealing with Amazon customer service which is very good. |

I had a house that had a leaf guard installed, kind of a wire mesh thing. Enough small stuff got through, and bigger stuff accumulated in the roof valleys and mulched itself through, that I had to get under the stuff to clean my gutters anyway. Lots of cuts on my hands, even with gloves on, doing that.
My last house had screens for the downspouts, which also got clogged pretty fast leading to the gutters overflowing. Stupid. I took those out, flushed the downspouts with a hose and that seems to work fine. I’d rather have big eaves and no gutters if I could move the water away from the foundation. |

I’m in the middle of cleaning my gutters and installing filtered gutter guards. I get my big leaf dump in the spring from the oaks and another one in the fall. As I’m still getting a little bit falling from the trees, I’ll say I’m not entirely impressed.
The filter seems to grab whatever is falling and hold it on top of the filter. So, yes, it is keeping the junk out of the gutters, but it is holding it there. This is causing a lot of the water to have an “extra” filter to go through and pushes water over the edge of the gutter as it comes down faster than the filter can allow it to go through. Now that there is a pile of junk, the water that comes over the guard is staining my driveway the color of the junk. Benefits: I won’t have to clean out my gutters. Drawbacks: I still have to get up on a ladder and get rid of the junk on top of the filter periodically - so clean my gutters still, but not. |

Thanks for the feedback everyone! That's why I love it here. I guess I'll just have the gutters cleaned, aligned and sealed.

A friend has installed foam gutter liners (i don't recall the brand name) but he claims they work very well. They come in 4' sections and different diamiters pending your gutter style, in addition are easy to install. They are not cheap but what is? Maybe worth putting in your most difficult gutters to give them a try?

I admit, I’m probably an extreme situation in that I have multiple very old, large oaks and plenty of pines. I have quite a few things dropping! For me, it’s the lesser of two evils - without the guards my gutters would probably need cleaning once a week during “peak” season. It’s an all day (if not multiple) event to clean the gutters. Now it seems I can just run up the ladder every 20 ft instead of 4 ft and blast with a leaf blower. As an idea, I fill a 5 gallon bucket with junk each of those 4 ft.

The first few years I had the guards on I would still get up there and pop the ends ones off to check the corners and downspouts. After about 3 trips with nothing - I have not been up there in years. When it rains I step out and check the downspouts and if they are flowing well - I sleep tight. The gutter covers work excellent for me.

The house we are having built will sit low amongst a TON of trees. I have a running list of features I want the architect to design in and one of them is industrial sized gutters. Like 6". LOL. The house is ultra-modern so it wont look too funny like it would if you were putting massive gutters on a colonial or something.

The guy that guttered my shed almost had an orgasm when I asked about the slope and he got out is pad and told me all the math to make the water always flowed and never sat, but also flowed slow enough to keep it from taking too much with it towards the downspouts during less than downpours......
