XHP stage 3

How many people are using stage 3 on their 335i, which is a Daily Driver?

I'm using stage 2 on my DD now.

I think when doing a WOT run, while using stage 3, you have to downshift at 6800 rpms vs the tranny doing it for you on stage 1 & 2. Correct?

I'm not sure. I run stage 3 on my street car which is not my daily but it could be.
With Upgraded paddles and at least 20 revisions to the stock stage 3 tune I'm finally really enjoying this car. Once I upgraded the paddles I rarely drive in anything but manual mode. The way I have sport mode it's fun and aggressive but for normal driving not so much. Drive mode is so damn annoying no matter what I do. Great for soft quiet driving but overall wants to lug the car too much. I drove my brothers manual e92 the other day which made me realize how bad drive mode is. Always a gear or two high.

On stage 3 DD with custom settings.

You can't downshift at 6800rpm,

If you mean upshift, I think it only upshifts automatically in stage 3, if you haven't set custom max rpm setting.

I run XHP Stage 3 on my 335i....by adjust the custom settings, you can make it do just about anything you want.

Why in the hell would you want to downshift if you are already at 6,800 rpms??

I agree. I could probably play with the shift points to make it better, but I haven't messed with them yet. I usually drive around in sport or manual most of the time. Like you said, D mode just lugs the motor down too much.....very annoying.

I had to turn the "throttle blips" off on the 2-1 shift........I didn't like the car lurching forward on me every time I would come to a stop while having my foot completely off of the throttle. That whole throttle blip thing is kind of ridiculous anyway.....pointless.

Mess with them. You'll be happier. Turn on the setting to start off in 2nd gear. First is almost never needed. The only time Ill go down to first is if I'm on a steep hill and stopped.

Don't have that option in drive, as it's greyed out, but I did the start in 2nd gear at standstill for M mode, didn't like it, prefer to go through gears from 1st gear at standstill. Agreed should only downshift to 1st at standstill.

That's weird. For me under the "Take off in 2nd gear at stand still" Tab, click it on then there choices for which drive mode you want it to do that. Then there's also the tab for "stay in second gear at standstill (M-Mode)".

What didn't you like about starting in 2nd? Unless I'm doing a really slow start, 1st gear just gets in the way. But I'm tuned and FBO.

Prefer to row through gears myself, especially when in M mode,

I rarely rip it from first,

Stay in M mode at standstill, is the one I'm referring to, I have have that disabled, so it stays in 1st gear at standstill.

The take of in 2nd gear was for D and DS mode, if I'm not mistaken, that option isn't available for all vehicles.

Mines a early 2007 E90 335i.

What do y'all think about Stage 3 v3.0? I've ran it since release and i've never ready been happy with the shifts since.
I recently went back to v2.1 and well in my case you can notice the shifts are faster/cleaner. especially seem to be much better at part throttle (sport/manual mode) is a big difference imo

V3 maps are not available for early cars due to the TCU

2.1 is the latest Stage 3 map for my car as well.

It took me awhile to tune it to how I liked it. At first it was decent but I had plenty of complaints. Like I said before I mostly drive it in full manual mode which has been great once I switched to Nelson racing paddles. The tune will greatly depend on how you want it to drive, and where you mainly drive the car.

Start customizing the tune, make small changes at first. Regular drive mode is decent for calm driving if you have it hold gears longer before upshifting. Sport mode is nice for spirited driving and you don't want to shift yourself but for every day it keeps the car too high in the rpms when unnecessary. Which is why I use manual mode. I have my shift speed/firmness all the way up. There's a thread from some time ago for this exact type of discussion, I've been thinking it needs resurrected. I have to be on at least flash 20 by now.

After driving manual for almost 20 years in London traffic, yeah lmao,

Obviously manual is more fun, but if I'm using M mode then I'd like to choose all the gears, otherwise I'd just stick it in D.
