G37S coupe w/ 7-speed 4.9 sec 0-60mph!! edmunds testing!?

Talked with a friend who works at Edmunds/insideline. He got word that they are now testing the new 2009 G37S coupe and the intial result, not yet offical 0-60mph times are 4.9sec!!!!

the review should be coming out in a few weeks or up to a month or so from now.

This is gonna be some serious competition for the 335i now!!

For 2009 the intially first 4 gears have been shorten, with the addition of 2 extra gears that now make it a 7 speed automatic with quicker upshifts via paddleshifter and with REV mathcing downshfiting. The final gear has also been shorten to improve te 0-60mph and low end power.

i think you missed the "M" part. its a Z4M not a Z4. yes i would agree the Z4 is a girls car. but i dont drive that.

the G37 looks like a girls car. i remember when i saw the first G35 coupe on the road i was stunned. it was so aggressive. with the spoiler and brembos

almost like a pre-GTR. the G37 just looks like a curvy cruiser. not an aggressive looking car at all

i would say about 8 out of every 10 g37's i see are driven by girls. and no, i'm not trying to exaggerate. it looks good, but it does have a chick feel to it, like the e93.

**edited, just realized you typed 7 speed.** However, I still think it's wrong. The 37 sedan is faster than the 37 coupe, and Edmunds had the 37 sedan at 5.2 or 5.3.

With the right gearing 5 second 0-60 times are not only possible, but easily achieved. The downside is fuel economy (but I'm sure a nice tall top gear or two is in place to make up for that). It ultimately depends on what the car maker is striving for. It's all about marketing too. And for sure it's a plush sports coupe, same as a 335i. Nothing wrong with that. These aren't track tools, they are mass produced sporty and luxurious transportation. With that, they can appeal easily to both men and women. For one they're nice looking, comfortable, have status, and are very easy to drive. That appeals to both sexes almost equally. Most men that buy these cars aren't serious enthusiasts. Just seekers of a nice car at a certain price point.

Hmmm....shorter gears for the coupe compared to the sedan....that would surely make it faster...!
Anyway, G37 doesnt look all that bad in real life. I think, Nissan and Infiniti have this motto going on of all the cars looking bad in photos but in real life, they look way betta. For e.g: GTR, Maxima, G37 coupe, FX50.

Guys, both the Sedan and the Coupe are recieving the same revised 7 speed Automatic for 2009. But The Sedan will be offered with the same engine as the G37 coupe for 2009, which will be the G37/G37s/G37x with a 328 hp v6 w/ 7 speed.

This test was for a G37s coupe.

Says the dude driving a Z4. M or not, a Z4 is much more recognizable as a chick's (or little man's) car than the G37 coupe. And really, what does this comment have to do with the G37's performance?

Around here I see more men driving G's. So it must be a transvestite's car.

I used to dislike the looks but seeing one today, they aren't that bad. They look a lot wider than the V35. Too bad I never test drove one.
