Coolant & Oil Line Orings - Turbo Install

Hello,

I’m sorry if this has been asked but I couldn’t find anything in the search. I just put my new turbos on last night and connected al the lines. I put new o-rings on from my install kit but ended up with one extra. I know there are two larger ones on the oil lines that have the big gasket on one end. Then I put 8 on the coolant lines and 3 on the long oil line that connects the turbos. One on each side and one on the middle piece. I used 2 large orings and 11 small ones.

When I look at pics of the lines I only count 11. Any ideas if I missed one? All the lines fit snugly with some silicone so I’m pretty confident I didn’t miss any. Does the kit come with one extra?

Thank you

The oil feed is two pipes. They connect by where they go into the block, and there's an O-ring in that connection.
If you never disconnected them from each other, the old O-ring should be OK.

Yes, I replaced all three o-rings on the long oil line. Eight o-rings on the four coolant lines and two large o-rings on the oil lines that have the large gasket on the opposite end. That gets me to 8 coolant + 3 oil which is 11. I’m not sure where the 12th should go?

When I look at pics of new lines I only count 11 small o-rings needed.

Thanks!

No, there is no long oil pipe with 3 O-rings. There are 2 oil pipes that connect to each other. Four O-rings.

Okay, that may be my problem. The two that connect are what I was talking about. The “left one” when looking at the turbos, I put one o-ring on the end and another o-ring at the middle connection point. The third o-right went onto the “right-side” one on the opposite end. Is the fourth one also in the middle? So two o-rings at the connection point between the two?

2 pipes, 2 O-rings on each pipe. One pipe goes into the other, the other goes into the block.

Okay, thanks for explaining it. Is what you’re saying that the male end of pipe one and the female end both have o-rings? Because each side goes into one turbo and the center plugs into the block. So there would be an oring on the block side of both? Tucked into the “female” end?

Never mind, I realized what you were saying. I know that every line fit snug into the system so it’s likely I just forgot to replace one. I’m assuming it would be more trouble than it’s worth to pull them off and double check? There were no prior leaks that I know of from those lines.
