Best baecation spots in the US?
Looking for a low key spot that isn't well known but has a great beach and fun things to do. I've already done Miami and San Diego plenty of times so just would like to branch out!

You can look into Newport, RI or other New England destinations, Myrtle Beach, SC, Virginia Beach, VA, Outer Banks, NC, and Gulf Coast from FL Panhandle to TX to see if anything interests you. They are all different with different things to do.

+1 for New Port Rhode Island.
I'm biased but anywhere from Sarasota to Venice Florida, great dining and beaches Savannah Georgia, not much for beaches but a blast of a town I would say you have to base this on the current state of lockdowns in that area as well. |

Will second the recommendations for the outer banks. Upper section is grade especially if you have a 4x4. I'll throw St Augustine and Clearwater/St Petes into the mix as well.

If downtown then: Restaurants: Husk, Halls, Magnolias, 167 Raw, High Cotton, 1782, Lewis Barbecue, fleet landing, 5Church (good Brunch) (attire varies dependent on your establishment - tried to throw in some different options but they are all great). Drinks: (little nicer) Bourbon & Bubbles, Felix. The more casual joints are usually packed to the rim with college kids - I can list them, but figured there wasn't much point. If you walk up and down Kings Street you will find plenty. Deserts: Kaminskys, Carmellas Then it depends what you are into. A walk along the battery is very nice - especially since the heat wont be too bad yet. Just walking through downtown is usually quite nice if you like the older architecture. The Market is so so, kinda a tourist trap these days, but walking through it once is decent. Mount Pleasant/Isle of Palms/Daniel Island/Sullivans Island: Restaurants: Nicos, Obstinate Daughter, Wasabi, King Tide, Pages Okra Grill (solid Brunch) Drinks: (more casual) Saltwater Cowboy, Reds Ice House, Tavern & Table, Waters Edge Cabana Bar, Windjamer (live music, dive bar feel right on the beach) If you golf there are tons of it, let me know and I can list some courses. If you like the beaches then Isle of Palms/Sullivan Island is a little nicer (hide your beers). Folly is a little trashier, but still decent - traffic can be shitty. We tend to go to the inlet between Isle of Palms & Sullivans as parking is easy and you can walk far out on the Sand Bars which is cool. I can get into more details if you give me more info on what you like. As you can tell bulk of what we do is eat, drink, golf and beach haha. |

My inlaws have a house in North Myrtle. Its quiet and low key, but the beach isn't the greatest.

+1 for Outer Banks/Kill Devil Hills area.
Eastern Long Island is cool, but the water is on the cold side. Too cold for most outside of late July to mid August.

As a society, have we really got to where we use "baecation" and just accept it? I weep for our future.

Hilton Head Island (been going there since 81', lived there a few years, PM with any questions) what DetroitM2 said
also Savannah is only 30+ minutes to visit Sanibel/Captiva Nantucket (our favorite place, August you can swim, but its amazing, not cheap) TBH not a OuterBanks/Nags fan, way over crowded, impossible to go out to eat..same with Myrtle. Been to both plenty of times. (unless it NOT June-August, then great place lol) |

"Bae," Urban Dictionary says, is an acronym that stands for "before anyone else," or a shortened version of baby or babe, another word for sweetie, and, mostly unrelated, poop in Danish. In addition, "bae" has appeared in rap songs and countless web memes since the mid-2000's.

Bae = boo, lady, girlfriend, woman, significant other, queen (since his name is John, I am assuming his bae is female; a woman can also call her man or significant other a bae).
