Have you tried running Inpa
Functional jobs
have you checked the Interface settings in the
device manager.
Port number and latency set to 1.

If you are running a head unit not from a older car not in the same range
as the e90 nothing may be comaptible I don't recall such a small screen
in a CCC or CIC.

You have to solve the communication problem first .
It you can't run Inpa you won't be able to run anything
from Standard tools (INpa , NCSexpert , tool 32 etc.. etc... Your setup must have something
wrong with it you should be able to read some of the modules
in Inpa using functional jobs which reads basic communication
with every module.

I don't see how you can run anything from Ista D either.

Picture shows the main part of the idrive and the temp controller missing.

There were some tranitsional years

There were some transitional years
where the 5 series and the 3 series systems where not
the same I believe . The 5 series had a distributed system
where some of the channel were in the Head Unit .

When people try to program options that were not in there
car that year the production date has to be maniputlated for
the programming to take.
But if the wiring is not correct for that option that has to be
taken care of to.

yes i understand about programming
but to program multimedia it must be connected or take operations ( what my multimedia does not to do )
i think i need find CCC pinout and find E60-Mask pinout Then rewire my plug from ccc to mask and then i think it will connect and maybe take programming

The other thing about programming Most Bus Modules is an
Icom cable is required on cars made after 3/07 . Cables described

you car have japan version of the modules and they are quite different and may have external ECU for navigation due the japan assistant system uniqueness
the european MASK with display cost almost nothing, you have to replace MASK and DISPLAY or try to flash european firmware to your current MASK

I have also M-ASK navigation unit however - yours is slightly different.

There is actually two generations of M-ASK.

The first ever generation: M-ASK that you have.
And upgraded generation: M-ASKII - i have.
Both have tiny screens.

It was Navigation system Business option some people bought for unknown reason and the E60 does not mean it's from E60. It's on all M-ASK systems but first developed for E60 platform. There are numerous E60 specific codings on it but also choices for e90.

This weekend i plan to add microphone to M-ASK unit, depends if it can bypass the Android integrated one and will take radio apart in the process.

As i understand your unit is partially working. Like some sections are not receiving power or are just broken. Can code M-ASK with ncsexpert so it shouldn't need an icom cable.

I can get you some images of my connectors and how they are wired. Also perhaps even measure some pins that definitely should have voltage coming in.

I suppose it's worth to check if the car came with M-ASK or it was later fitted (vin decoder) to get clear picture if we are chasing unfinished retrofit or diagnosing not working equipment.

Ista D has block diagrams along with wiring color codes in it
I believe you displayed a diag printout from it in one of the previous
posts .
I would get rid of all the Japanese electronics in that car.

The 5 series only had that distributed system up until the 2006 to 2008 time frame.
At least in the US.

Hello, I just bought a 2011 328i two days ago and i ran into a problem with my speakers. it’s making a static noise even when the car is off. the audio sounds perfectly normal but in the background is the static noise. when i turn down the music it’s still there. I checked the amp and there’s no water or visible things wrong with it. I was wondering if it could be a weak battery causing this?

CAN Network

Have you ever tried to change de fiber optic CAN to position 3-4?
May be the radios is just closing the loop for can but not connecting with the network.
in your female connector i not see the pins 10 & 16, i must ask, do you have an amplifier?, if yes, you have an CAN issue

Radio or Amp going bad .
It's always a good idea to check the battery voltage before you do anything on these. And after you finish working on them if you don't disconnect the battery. Reseating connectors might help but I wouldn't change the position of anything if it was working before the problem started.
