Getting a 28A2 code with no other symptoms, car drives fine and comes in randomly along with a boost deactivation

replaced vanos solenoids, valve cover and valve cover gasket

Based on what you've already done, sounds like cam ledge bearings...

I do believe the cam sensor may cause that code as well

It can. Swap sensors and see if the code follows. If not, on to the big job.

Ok I’ll do the cam sensors and be back in a week with updates, is there anyway it could be the non return valve getting clogged?

i'd find it pretty unlikely but definitely worth a shot. I'd exhaust everything before giving in and doing the cam ledge lol

also gonna take a look at the oil filter cap to see if the stem is there, never checked

In a similar situation, also getting 2a87. Replaced Vanos, valve cover and gasket, coils, plugs, and injectors, also have new camshaft position sensors, will be double checking them to make sure didn't buy a defective part, post to follow thread

I'm in the same boat on v7 mhd it was throwing 2a82 often I swapped to v9 and it hasn't popped up in a few days maybe mine was tune related. Probably not and I probably just jinxed my self lol

Update - seems to be a link with the DTC. Whenever I single press the DTC, the 28A2 almost always will come on when DTC is disengaged... any link possible?
