335i Sport pkg - changed tires to Non-Sport
I have the 18" sport package on my 07 335i (Potenzas). I also bought from someone an extra set of the 17" non-sport rims (style 159) with all Season Turanzas.
The problem is that I just switched to the non-sport rims and Turanzas and my car drives like it's going to fall apart. It's shaky and rough as though I'm driving on winters and even worse. This can't be normal? Could I have done something wrong when changing the tires, I did it in my garage - there isn't anything I have to do other than take the sports off and put the non-sports on? Can anyone offer any suggestions. I'm assuming the 159 rims are compatible with the Sport config 335? By the way, the reason I put the all seasons on is because I will have them changed over to put winter rubber on the 159 rims. I don't want to buy the rubber and find out the rims are incompatible. |

Maybe flat spotted, I only drove it for 2 minutes and turned around to park it. Could there be any harm in continuing to drive it if the noise continues, I'm hoping it is from being in storage.

If the shake is coming from the front then unless you have a balancer in your garage....I suggest you get them rebalanced....

Not sure what the cost of the 159's were, aren't you going to have unneeded all seasons when you're done? I got a 18" package from the sponsor for $1010 shipped....with new ASA rims. I did 225/40-18's instead of going -1.....

Tire noise getting better
I'm from Canada and plan on getting the tires replaced in buffalo (Tirerack will ship my winters there). I guess I will leave the all season bridgestones there to be disposed of. They actually look like they have a ton of tread still on them. I can't really bring them back with me.
I put some air in the tires today to put them upto to 32 in the front and 38 in the back - they were really low in air. This is helped but the tires are extremely loud especially when braking and at low speeds. Is it likely that the tires are defective. Hopefully it isn't likely the rims are defective or damaged. If the wheels need to be rebalanced, I'm assuming that when I get the winters put on, the installer would balance the tires. Any thoughts. |

I don't think anybody can say without seeing the rims/tires. I had a case where I went through rebalancing, alignment, and asking if there were any worn suspension parts because there was a vibration on my FWD Nissan. The shop told me nothing is worn on the car, or they'd fail me on the inspection. Oddly, once I put the OEM rims back on, the shaking went away. I waited until some 18's were on closeout and got them. PUt them on and no shaking. So in my case I believe something was wrong with one of the rims (coins in the cupholder would rattle, it was bad)...

Did you torque them on properly? Get them balanced out as stated before a weight most likely fell off.
