I have a 2010 N54 335i that lost an engine to a spun rod bearing at 130,000 miles. Ever since I changed its engine with a used one and while the engine was out I put in brand new king rod bearings in the used motor. The car is now almost complete (still some boost leaks) but given its new rod bearings and my fear of rod bearing failure again like in vehicle virals 335i spinning a rod bearing right after replacement the question comes up. How hot should my oil be before I drive it hard. I also have an n26 328i and I feel that 170 degree oil or right after the 160 mark on the dash means it's safe to go to high rpm driving. Is that true? I want to make sure I'm not causing premature failure on either Bmw I have especially with my n54's new rod bearings. I often floor it right after my temperature peg is above the 160 mark. Lmk if that's a safe practice or if It needs to be fully fully hot before I go, example. Tonight I floored it when the oil in my 335i was at 170 degrees after 6 miles of driving and the car is stage 2+, is that acceptable?

I would wait till its 100 degrees C or about 200F before going hard on the throttle.

180F is what I wait til. It's proven 180-190F oil temp is ideal for power.

Most people would say a bare minimum would be 170. I personally wait to at least 190-200.
