Some LCI iDrive Questions

Sorry if these have been asked before, but I wasn't able to find answers by searching...

1. Regarding "Night" mode, is there a way to have this automatically selected when the headlights are on? Or do I really have to manually turn it on/off each time?

2. Regarding 3D Perspective Mode, my CA showed this to me when I picked the car up...but now I can't get it to activate. I go to the settings page and check the box, but nothing happens. I'm beginning to think I may have a problem, but wanted to double-check before I report it to the dealer.

3. Has anyone determined what the "Traffic Info map" setting is for? Do I need to have this checked to get traffic information? I note that when I check the box, the map becomes "monotone" (for lack of a better description) and the night mode and 3D perspective mode become inactive.

4. Not really iDrive per-se, but I have some confusion regarding Logic7. Pre-LCI models seem to have settings for Concert Hall, Rock, etc. With my new LCI 328, I can simply turn Logic7 on or off. And frankly, I'm not noticing much of a difference between the two settings (and yes, I DO have an ear that can pick up differences in music tone). Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

I am not aware of any way to have this setting toggled automatically based on time of day or state of headlamps. Perhaps in a future update, as the information is available to the system either way...it simply needs to use it.

I am not having a similar issue in my car, but you may want to ensure that the map is in Perspective mode before enabling the option. If that doesn't do the trick, certainly have it looked at.

The traffic info map presents traffic information in a more obvious way, for those situations where local traffic conditions are a significant concern. Rather than just having little signs and congestion directions on the map, the traffic info map shades the affected areas so that you can avoid them altogether. I haven't found it useful up here in the Seattle area, but in southern California it might be very helpful.

The Logic7 surround options found in previous model-years are not present in my car either, and it appears to be merely an on/off system in its current state. The effects of Logic7 vary depending on the characteristics of the audio source--with vocal tracks, the vocals should be weighted toward the center front speaker. Logic7 is not intended to alter the tone of the audio production but rather the surround characteristics, though it certainly does not do a uniformly good job with all music types.

Night time display

I found it easier to set up one of the memory keys to toggle night time display (and another for split screen), so that its easier to get to the setting. I find that way I am using it more often. But it would be much better to have it work automatically (like my Nuvi for example).
