Tire Pressure Warning Light Question... Cold Weather?
Live in Arizona where it's hot to say the least. Tonight was the first real cold night, about 58 degrees compared to the usual 85+ ambient in the garage.
Girlfriend took it out tonight around 6:30pm, got back to the car around 8:30pm and the pressure warning went off. I went to the gas station and all of them had the same pressure, about 25psi... I filled them up to the recommended 32 and the light went off. Is this most likely caused by the first time it's been in such a cold temperature and it might have been filled to 32 during a hot ass day? Just being a bit paranoid, car is a week old, don't want to be shelling out $300/tire just yet. Didn't see any nails on first inspection... |

got the opposite as you,
was drove to CA and on the way back passed AZ and the warning light came on, parked at the side and check and everything seems normal. called the BMW tech and they said the high temp caused the warning light to go off because of the heat. so i guess with cold weather it's also possible.

It's definitely the weather, or temperature specifically. These tires really fluctuate in air pressure based on driving conditions and the outside temperature. You just don't want your tire pressure going up over 40 psi (rear) or under 32. It will jump that much psi in a day or over night easily. You need to simply get yourself a decent pump and an accurate guage to check them periodially. I keep my psi at 32-34 (front) and 36-38 (rear).

you shouldnt reset without checking the air pressure. resetting just sets the current pressure to the new baseline, ie: if your tires were at zero, the system will reset, but your tires will still be dangerously underinflated.
