E92 *Thud* sound when coasting into parking spot

Hello all, I have a 2011 E92 335 that has this really worrying thud sound pretty much all the time. Its been happening for maybe 2 years now. It happens on my 18" M Sport staggered setup, and happens to a way lesser extent on my 17" standard width winter set.

Basically, the way to recreate it is to decelerate at low speeds (like when turning into a parking spot, not when turning on a street). I'll get to a point where I'm slowing down nicely without needing the brake, I'll press the clutch, no problems so far, and then I'll turn my steering wheel. The second after I turn my steering wheel, I hear and feel this pretty flat thud that sounds like its coming from the rear differential.

I tried taking it to a shop and they couldn't figure out how to recreate it and refused to troubleshoot it any more. I see a lot of XDrive people have issues with their transfer case. Could that be it?
