New start button - but not sure

Replaced my starter button yesterday for a snazzy crystal effect one with a blue edge. I also replaced my peeling outer ring with a red one. However I'm not sure about the red. I did buy a black one as well just in case I didn't like the red.
What do you guys recon? Stick with the red or go back to a black ring?

Black I think. Where did you get the button? I replaced mine a few years ago with a red one which looks alright, better than the worn black one anyway but I quite like the looks of that.

Think I'll give it a few more days and then decide, but I am kind of thinking black would be better and show the blue a bit more.
Got the button from good old ebay.

Prefer black myself. The red may grow on you though.

The ring on my button is pealing, is it easy to change?

Yep it's dead easy to do and only takes a few minutes. Plenty of videos on YouTube to show you how to do it.
You just need something to prize the dash trim off at the button end- I used a small metal rule with tape over the end so it didn't damage the trim. Then you just unclip the button with your fingers, pull it through the hole and unplug it. Then use a small flat blade screw driver or a pick to release the fasteners for the top of the button and the ring.
Then scrape off all the peeling paint on the ring with a blade or screwdriver and stick on the new self adhesive ring. Pop on the new button and the ring assembly and put it back in the dash. Simples!

Nice cheap little mod for about £12!

Not a fan of that personally, either the button or the ring, sorry.

Have you painted the ring yourself?

I’ve had a couple of other stick on ones as well, but rather than being metal like the current one, they were domed plastic.

The red one as pictured and a black one.

The ring is a stick on one from China. Not as glossy as I was expecting.
I was originally going to just get the standard button in blue but then changed my mind and went for the crystal effect one. I like it but still mulling over the ring!

Not sure about the red tbh. My black ring was peeling and looking nasty, so I took the whole thing apart and sprayed it myself. Looks OEM, but no longer shabby.

Looks to be a matt finish and doesn’t look very red, but could just be the photo, it doesn’t really go with the button IMO.

This is the one I have currently

But black would probably suit the button better.

Maybe I'm getting old but I prefer the stock look.

I did the exact same; stripped the button down, fine sanded the peeling plastic part then resprayed it black
