2006 330i drill oilpan in place to remove belt debris?
Hi diy people
quick story I bought this car new in 06...lots of problems (Miami car) I had to move up to Montreal to take care of my mother during this covid stuff. Having shredded many belts I replaced the front oil seal a few years back. Now I lost oil pressure and the locals want $1600 to r&r the pan. The car not running is only worth $400 US I am thinking that if I could drill/holesaw a hole in the pan without removing it, unclog the oil pickup and fabricate a plate/seal to close it up I have access to a machine shop so I can make anything. The I can hopefully get the car running and check if there is damage from losing oil pressure. I've read a few of the diy oil pan threads and am very capable wrench. I have a few questions if anyone cares to answer thanks in advance 1) Is the strainer located near the oil pan drain plug? 2) Is there a flat surface under the strainer that can be hole sawed without removing the subframe etc? It may sound like a stupid idea but this would save me a lot of time and or money if I could get the engine running to see if I have oil pressure and no serious engine damage, before I dump a lot of money into a dead horse. Any and all comments, pictures, opinions are ALL welcome. Thank you Richard |

can you recommend an affordable/suitable camera?
Does anyone have a picture of the underside of this engine without the plastic shield? location of oil sensor.? Is the oil pickup/strainer located near the drain plug? I was told that not running, my car is only worth around $400 us. I'm up in Montreal and they want $1600 to r & r the pan. |
