4x4 light going on and off

Hey guys,

I'm new here so sorry if this was answered, but i cannot find any info on my specific problem.

So I just bought a 2007 328xi and on my drive home the 4x4 light and yellow brake light came on. The strange thing is that when you turn the car off and then back on the lights turn off. When I drive for around 10-15 miles the lights come back on. I tested this several times and every time after 10ish miles it comes back on. I bought it from a private party so bringing it back is not a option. Wanted to seek any advice before bringing it to a dealer.

has a good list of the CCID error codes that could show up. 354 is 'Start Assist Inactive', and 351 is '4x4 and DSC Failure'.

Any other codes? I believe DSC failure will inactivate the start assist.

Check your ABS sensors and brake pad wear sensors, and also try resetting the steering sensor.

If it was me, I'd go back to the seller and ask him to cover the cost to diagnose the problem, then maybe split the cost of the repair (or at least parts, if you do it yourself).
