e92 M3...has anyone increased their bhp yet?
I've covered nearly 15k miles in my M3 and have decided its now time for some upgrading! It's booked in with Birds in early December for a full Hartge exhaust, including 'racing' cat I believe. It's then being tickled with a remap!
The Hartge system is a whole lotta wonga but after the exhaust and the remap it should have in excess of 460bhp. Or will it.......??? I'm having a before and after rolling road run to see exactly what the difference is but I want to know if theres anyone who has had anything similar done on their M3? |

I've avoided temptation for a remap or exhaust so far. Only had the car a few months and done 3k miles, so still enjoying it.
Will be great to hear your thoughts on a quality upgrade, with dyno figures to back up any performance increases achieved. I think 460bhp is achievable. A stage 3 uprade (full exhaust, cats and remap) saw an increase from 340bhp to 380bhp on an Audi S4 4.2 V8, so 420bhp to 460bhp should be possible. 10% increase for a lot of money though! Probably get much more gain in the midrange than peak power, which is where most of the Emmissions tinkering is done. Keep up posted how you get on... will be great to hear what it sounds like with a full system. |

That's normally aspirated for you... Still, 40 brake is pretty good.
I bet it'll be worth it for the sound alone...

I'm happy with the power at the moment. Can still scare myself at times! Would like to upgrade the exhaust in the future though

Funnily enough I've gone for full exhaust system to gain the extra power from the extremely expensive cats (!!) but also to improve the looks; I think the standard exhausts look a bit puny! I'm actually hoping it isn't too loud and have gone for the TUV approved version to make sure it isn't!
I'll update when the job has been done! |

For a full exhaust and re-map a 44bhp increase does sound a little too much. Unless the stock zorst is majorly restrictive.
Get her on the R/R before and after. Look forward to seeing some results.

The cost....over £5k!!
Massive money by any standards but the remap part is only £700. The Hartge exhaust is at least twice the price of other systems so I hope the quality, finish, sound and fit are perfect! Interstingly, it's the only one which seems to follow the OEM design of having a single rear silencer for all 4 exhast tips - unlike other makes which have 2 seperate boxes and a gap in the middle. I thought this was quite important given that the rear silencer apparently plays a part in the aerodynamic design of the car. Anyway, whichever way I look at it or try and justify it, the cost is extreme (and probably sheer madness!!) to say the least so I just hope it's worth it! |

At the Evolve charity dyno day yesterday, I found out I had a good un' !
The guys recon my car has had some sort of remap done as part of the "press preparation" and said it would be pointless to get it remapped myself. All the E92 M3's they've had on their dyno have been putting out 395-411bhp... and mine yesterday put down 426bhp ![]() I'm very happy now... but think I'll still get the exhaust done. Evolve guys were top and more than happy for them to carry out any work I want done. Looking forward to seeing/hearing your Hartge system Palmeball . . . |

You wont get 40bhp mate. Id recommend going to another dyno place, before and after, just to make sure. Have Hartge quoted you on this 40bhp increase?

Have you looked into the Racing Dynamics products?
A friend of mine who works for BMW Car Mag said their doing an article on their RS35 Biturbo and that they are opening up an RD branch in the UK??? Definitely worth investigating......RACING DYNAMICS is the best! I have their Quads on my 335i and LOVE them..... |

ECU Remap gives a maximum of around 20hp. Most of the tuners have come to realise this now.
Supersprint exhausts with metal catalytic converters have already been dynoed at 20hp. Hartge and Supersprint quote this with Supersprint providing graphs. We have tested Supersprint stuff and they nearly always give the quoted power gains they say. That doesn't mean you'll get 40hp total though. Some of the US guys have had this though so it may well be possible. We think it is more than possible. Time will tell. We remapped an E93 M3 today which had a Remus exhaust with metal cats. Sounded brilliant. Really quiet under cruising with insane noise under load. Well designed and thought out. Beautiful fit and finish aswell which is normal from Remus. One of the best noises however comes from Tubi. We have supplied these and the owners do nothing but go on about how good they sound. |

IMO the Remus is definitely too loud.....all depends on personal preference though I suppose.
Either your into a nice tone like the RD.....or the sound of a Remus where you can be heard by the Police 2 Miles away if your opening the S65 up.... The Remus does sound like an Animal but its just too much attention for the same gains..... |
