DPF Cleaning
My DPF clogged at 114k which kind of surprised me as the car was mostly highway driven. The shop will send out for cleaning and since we have emissions, I did not want to delete it. Planning to block EGR next.

Yup looks well sooted. Was the car doing regens as expected? Please post pics of the cleaned dpf and share any details if you/they do a reset on the DPF Remaining life value.
I am in the stage 2 tuned but don’t delete camp. Interested to hear how your cleaning goes. I did the ERG block at 189km and that has done wonders to keep the intake clean. Car recently hit 250km and Carly shows the DPF life is good for another 114k miles, seems too good to be true. I’ve not had it cleaned and never knowingly triggered the DPF lifetime reset. The variables that play into dpf clogging are more than I can track. |

Thought I’d advise that that sooted face is the DOC that’s in front of the DPF. I always wondered what regens did to clean the DOC?

Sorry to hear about the troubles, that stinks.
Arm chair mechanic advice... - Ensure the shop has reviewed and properly reconnected the electrical and fluid connections to the SCR metering unit that is located immediately after the DPF. A bad connection there will create obvious problems. - I hope they removed the SCR metering unit (#14 in image) before washing the DPF. - Have them produce the exact SCR code(s) that are being thrown and post them here for friendly review. Fingers crossed that by the time you read this they have found and fixed the issue. Last edited by TheBigSwede; 09-21-2021 at 05:24 PM.. |

Have googled a bit and 4D16 often points to the SCR or Urea metering unit (box 14) in parts diagram above. If they haven't cleaned the unit with warm water to clear any glazing or contamination that would be a good place to start. FCP sells new units for ~$100. Fingers crossed that a cleaning of the metering unit will correct this.
