CEL 4D87 and 48D0
These two CELs will clear but come back on as soon as the engine is started.
Any Suggestions? Doing some research on this site, it appears these may be caused by Exhaust Backpressure Sensor before the turbo. It has been raining for a couple of days and can not get my car into the garage. Just where is this sensor located and does anyone have a part number for it? 2011 335D... |

I had this error before. The sensor was bad. It is cheap but difficult to replace because it is close to the firewall. I got the sensor from Rock Auto Parts
This is the sensor that I replaced https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...=19700&jsn=880 |

Had to replace the hoses on mine last year. Think I had those codes as well. Could audibly detect an exhaust leak in one of the hoses to the differential pressure sensor. AA give you a view of it here https://youtu.be/lYih2U84bK8 .

I also had to replace that same hose at a different time but I think this is for a different sensor and it is unrelated to the code 48D0. The Differential Pressure Sensor in question is further back, near the firewall and has 2 hoses connecting to it.

Thanks for the replies. I ordered the following and so far it is fixed and pretty easy to change to boot.
Exhaust Backpressure Sensor(BMW)(m) Part #: 13-62-7-808-013-BOE It took two weeks to get the sensor but fixed now. Thanks montr your second youtube was exactly correct. Last edited by demon; 10-09-2021 at 11:41 AM.. |
