Loud Knock Lots of Smoke

Hey all you Diesel Gurus!
My 2011 335d left me stranded leaving work.

Symptoms are:

Irregular RPM drop accompanied by a pretty loud tap noise, accompanied by lots of white smoke coming out of the exhaust.

Gets worse by increasing the RPM. The noise and the smoke. Really just a slight tap on the accelerator pedal and it gets really bad.

Car is Stage 2 RennTech Tune. No codes coming up, possibly due to the tune.

Gonna start pulling shit off this weekend. But would like a systemic approach, so suggestions are welcomed.

Doesn't sound like rod or bearing knock......BUT to rule that out pull you oil filter and look for glitter in the sunlight. Really sounds like an injector failing esp with the smoke.....run some hot shots or even better marvel mystery oil double dosed through the injectors. GOOD LUCK!!!

Injector Failure was my initial thought upon seeing the tail pipe smoke.
It was the severe sputtering that threw me off.
Looks like it may just be an injector issue after all. Fingers crossed.
Car smokes like a mf rn

You don't by chance run with your engine cover off? With it being Cyl 6 there's a very real possibility of water issues.

cover had been off for the last 50 some K. So... no... cover isnt the issue. Besides I've replaced that injector as a maintenance item. so its pretty new. who knows. hopefully that's all it is. luk

If the covers been off for 50k miles.....that def could be your issue. Those back 2 injectors are notorious for getting water in them ESPECIALLY if you run without cover. Seeing you're in Florida I would run with cover on, but its your car.

Resolved.

So the issue was the injector at #6 cylinder.

Symptoms were clapping noise in the engine. Misfire.
Lots of white smoke.

Symptoms were becoming more apparent as the accelerator pedal was applied.

As you can see from the previous video, the Cylinder Smoothness Test through Rheingold software really helped to isolate the issue.

The injector was stuck. I had to tow the car to a friend mechanic and they were able to get it out using a modified slide hammer. Because its up against the firewall.

Replacing the injector fixed the issue.
Thank you all for your help!
