One rim has A LOT more brake dust then the opposite side

Jacked her up this weekend, jack stands on the rear, removed rear wheels, cleaned and polished the insides of the rims, cleaned calipers in prep for paining.

Question: Inside the driver rear rim was black black black with heavy heavy brake dust. Not so much on the passenger side rear rim. Anyone know why the difference would be so extreme?

Also, I see what looks like brake dust covers on the rear, I do not have these on the front. Is this normal?

Can't really conclude any issues are present unless you completely cleaned the wheels to the same extent at the same time. I suggest to completely clean both and review them in a few months, if they are significantly different then there may be an issue. You should have brake dust shields on all 4 too.

If you never clean them, them it can get that bad, yes.

But if you generally keep up cleaning efforts it usually doesn't get that dirty.

The rotor looks good though. It seems the pads are touching the rotor properly at least.

"Should" meaning it came that way from the factory, or "should" it's a good idea to have them on all 4? My car doesn't have them on the front.

From factory, all 4 corners had shields. Realoem.com for p/n of shields
