328XI DD and Track Build *UPDATED 7/6*
BMW 328XI BUILD
Hello! I wanted to do a complete build list on my 2011 Bmw 328xi. The reason for this is there was many questions I had during my build that were hard to find answers for. I hope this inspires or helps someone else out! Feel free to ask any questions! Basic Info: 2011 328xi N51, Alpine White with brown interior, car was completely stock and auto when I bought it. MECHANICAL MODS: Manual Trans Swap- Yes I did manual swap this car! had the work done by a shop local to me. So far its absolutely amazing! I kept the XDrive 3.91 diffs so slightly higher gearing, first and second are a little short and 6th gear is around 2.5K at 60mph. livable for me but I might look at swapping lower ratios in the future. Everything is OEM except shifter and bushings. F30 Brembo Swap and 335 e90 Rears- More info in my post later in the thread, So far loving this brake setup! UUC Evo 3 Shifter with upgraded bushings- So far I love this shifter it feels amazing, I also went with ECS Delrin bushings in the front of shifter arm, and Tuner motorsports Poly rear arm bushing. Both feel great! Car is coded as manual so no codes! Clear dash! I also Have the ZHP knob and M alcantera shift boot! -BC BR Coilovers- Budget coilovers but I love the way they feel, I know more expensive coils are better but these are the best you can get for 1K imo! -DForce LTW 5 18x9 ET.41 with PS4S 235/40/18- Bought these for cheap and had them powder coated! I love the way they look! I needed to run 235/40 to clear coilovers even with spacers. fitment is great no rubbing or anything even lowered. -12MM Apex Racing Spacers- Needed to clear coilover shock. -Motorsport Hardware 82mm wheel stud conversion with Mishimoto locking Lugs- love the way this looks! Skip the Motorsport Hardware locking lugs they stripped on me. -Momo Supercup Bucket seat with Vac Sliders and side mounts, and a planted seat bracket- This seat is amazing for track days! currently using the oem seatbelts. Coded so there is no dash lights. The sliders don't feel that good I would recommend another brand, they creak when hard cornering no matter how much I grease them. And they don't slide very smooth. The planted bracket is a little tall and I had to drill out the holes in order to make it fit, overall if I did it again I would look for different sliders and floor bracket. -Muffler and Res delete plus amazon tips- Love the way this sounds, not too much drone imo and does pop and burble without tune around 4-3k when you let off throttle! Not too obnoxious! AESTHETIC MODS: -Badge removal -50% window tint -Oem BMW Black Kidney Grills- I had a eBay set that broke off, the clips on these still didn't fit the best but after bending them up they fit great! -Black LED Side markers- Definitely makes the car look more modern! these are depo ones I ordered from Kies Motorsport. -Front V Brace- I followed ESG's video on youtube on how to do this wrapped white with amazon wrap I wrapped side reflectors with same color. -Lip spoiler- High kick alpine white spoiler off eBay, only around $160 came painted. -Front Splitters- Also off eBay around $100 painted. -Lux Angel Eyes- Easy install and makes the halos look so much better! -Sport Steering Wheel Swap- I wanted to replace my boring non sport heated wheel so I swapped in this heated sport wheel which I rewrapped and added M trim onto! I honestly never want to rewrap a wheel again and next time I would send it to the pros the amount of time is not worth it imo. However Im super happy with the results. If you have any questions let me know! Id be happy to help! Future Plans- -Ultimate Clutch Pedal -Stage FP Tune Overall Review: -I love this car! it feels amazing on the track and as a DD. car meets, track days, MN winters, its seen it all! Its truly a drivers car and I can't get over how in love with it I am. Pictures: Thanks for checking out my car! I can add more pricing info and more photos if anyones interested! I'd be interested to know that. The only other time I've seen it done to an E90 it turned out to be cosmetic, not functional...

Well after a few months I have more mods! I completed a sport steering wheel retrofit with a rewrapped heated sport wheel with M3 trim. I followed 6ixSpd's diy and while I am happy with the results I never want to have to rewrap a steering wheel again. Way too tedious and the first wrap didn't fit so I needed the company to send me another. What was supposed to be a fun winter project turned into a headache especially after trying to track down a non recalled airbag. We'll see how the leather holds up in the long run but so far so good. Ill link 6ixSpd's diy here and a thread I posted about making sure the sport airbag you buy is not recalled!

My most recent upgrade was a full brake overhaul! I picked up a set of f30 grey unpainted (340mm) Brembos from a fellow member over on f30 post, I also purchased a new set of rear E90 335i brakes! I went with these in the rear to both help even out brake bias, and because retrofitting f80 rears or 135 rears was a lot of work and I wanted to do a budget "bigger" Brake kit.
Very happy with the results, The brakes are very powerful and driving it feels great. Pedal still feels like stock after coding +SPBR. same linear feel, obviously more braking force. Front f30 brembos are bolt on to all e90/92. Rear 335 calipers and rotors are only bolt on for AWD e90 328 and wagon 328 as they have the larger rear parking brake shoes from a 335. RWD 328 need a parking brake mod to work, a few threads cover it. Fronts (stock): Single piston floating, 312x24 Fronts (F30): Four piston fixed, 340x30 Rears (Stock): Single piston floating, 300x20 Rears (E90 335): Single piston floating, 336x22 Rotors: OEM Zimmerman blanks Pads: EBC Yellowstuff Fluid: Castrol SRF |
