Oxygen Sensor Incomplete
Car: 2013 335is e93 - N54, DCT
Mods: tial bov and bms dual cone intake, rb pcv valve. Stock OEM downpipes Tune: MHD back to stock flash (removing mhd), I flashed back to stock from Stage 1+ OBD2 Reader: MHD Adapter + App Issue: I'm having trouble getting my oxygen sensor to read "complete". I've performed 8 drive cycles now and no luck. After the 5th drive cycle i cleared codes and all my sensors reset. I've driven about 150-200 miles in total so far. On my oxygen sensor cycle I go about 55-60 and try to keep a steady rpm between 2k and no more than 3k for 15min/15+ miles. I've tried to keep it in normal drive mode, sport mode (keeps gears lower), and in 5th gear as steady rpm as possible and keeping constant pressure on the gas. I live in a very hilly area with a speed limit of 70mph so its difficult to keep a constant pace under 60mph. I've tried other ways of not worrying about speed and just keeping the rpm's under 3k at a constant. I'm seriously out of ideas on what to do. A few years ago I remember just driving for 15min at like 80mph+ and reading complete without issues. Are my oxygen sensors just bad? Am I doing my cycles wrong? Is the MHD stock map broken? Stock map zero still may have an options menu to see if the Oem Dp is checked. If you have uninstalled MHD then I have no clue.

I had the same problem… I had to take it back to the dealer to have them reflash the car back to stock using dealer tools.
For whatever reason, MHD flash back to stock never got the o2 sensor ready. Dealer said I had incompatible DME programming. Just tell them you can't figure out why o2 isn't getting ready and let them figure it out. It cost me around $200.

I had the same issue. Dealer ended up reprogramming to a newer software level.

Does mhd not flash the original tune? Or is it flashing a stock 335i instead of a 335is. Is it possible to just run a stock map w/ mhd or mhd stage 1 map? The o2 sensors only have issues when you have catless downpipes right?

Try flashing back to stage 1+ and make sure you have OEM catted downpipe checked. Do some city driving followed by some highway driving and don't clear codes.

It's a low key illness 335is has. Needs reprogramming through a dealership. It's missing some parameters and such or something. It's not MHD related or flashing back to stock.

Just tell them you need them to set your o2 monitor and they'll take care of the drive cycle for you after flashing. It should cost around $200.

I wanted to circle back to both confirm and thank hellokitty and _N54 for their suggestion of having the dealer reflash back to stock. This worked and all monitors set right away...no crazy drive cycles needed. My 6 month nightmare is now over. Time to sell

Just wondering how much did the dealer charge you to flash back to stock?

It was $218. They wanted to do a "smog diagnosis" to determine what, if any issues needed attention for $400, but I rolled the dice and just had them do the flash. Every monitor set right away.

I have a 2011 335is with the same issue. But, I have catless DP's. If the dealer flashes back to stock, will it reset the O2 sensor even though I have catless downpipes?

I’m having the same issues as some of you guys had. I been driving a lot and doing the cycle thing. Also having a full tank while running the monitors. My car is also a 335is. The Evap and Oxygen sensor monitors won’t set. I have MHD and flashed it back to stock and no luck.

MHD flash back to stock isn’t the same as it’s just a generic version of a stock map. You need the stock map for YOUR CAR which only the dealer has access to. Just tell them to get the monitors ready for you as part of the service. By law, they are required to help you get the car ready for smog.

You are doing it wrong. You DO NOT flash back to stock and remove MHD. You simply flash to MHD v10 STAGE 0 and make sure that the box for the "Oscillation Fix" is NOT checked.. That leaves MHD installed and allows the monitors to set after the correct drive cycle. You have to do the drive cycle as it is written, any deviation, like going over 60mph in step 3 will stop the cycle.
You MUST have less than 3/4 tank of fuel but MORE then 1/4. So Half a tank and run the drive cycle. If you have catless DP's then the catalyst (converters) will remain incomplete. (since they dont exist). States vary with how many monitors can be incomplete. Last edited by jadams161; 04-22-2024 at 08:46 AM.. |
