Service Engine Soon, no fault code, engine shakes!
Hello Friends,
Need help please. Car's "service engine soon" light came on today and engine is shaking bad especially when I put it on reverse it does more. There are no fault codes and it shows zero fault codes when I plug in my OBS reader. I am using Bluedriver scan tool and it supports BMW. Dashboard display says "all systems ok". When I drive, engine still shakes and no issues when accelerating. When I stop, same issue (Just shaking). RPM stays the same when car is parked; engine just shakes with no fault code. What can be the problem? I am hoping spark plugs or ignition coil related because my car (2010 bmw 328i) is still under SULEV warranty which covers for emissions ONLY for 15 years/150K miles. I have only 61K miles on it.. don't drive much. Thanks Last edited by aron1001; 11-06-2021 at 11:52 AM.. |

The SES will happen if the gas cap is not on tightly sometimes without codes. That shouldn't cause the problem you are experiencing though.
Try resetting the cap and see if it clears. If not, disconnecting the battery for a few minutes will also reset it. In either case, because the SES is an emissions related fault, I would think any diagnosis would be covered since it is an N51, but speak to your dealer 1st. |
