New battery almost flat?
Hope I got this in the right forum!
I've got a 2010 320d ed, and I changed the battery as the one in there was very old - replaced with a new Yuasa AGM battery - did the replace battery on Bimmerlink - everything came on fine, but the second start I got a dash error, a car with 2 lines going up into it. I noticed on BimmerLink it didn't have a charge percentage, took it out for a drive, and that's now at 3%! So I am guessing it was not delivered charged as it is meant to be?! I assume this isn't normal, as every video out there shows BimmerLink showing new batteries at 99% etc. Should I just push them for a new one, or should I drive it for a while to see if it charges, that 3% did take a long drive though! It was such a pain to fit as well. |

Thought I'd go and register it again, and this time, it showed the battery at 97%, so registered again, and will see how that goes - hopefully it's okay now, not sure what is going on though!

Use a real voltmeter to measure the resting voltage and the voltage with the alternator charging.
Then use the hidden menu to get to the voltage screen on the dash. (Sorry, I don't know the sequence but google does). That will tell you if the car electronics are properly measuring the voltage. Sounds like you have a problem with the current sensor, and that 3% is probably not accurate. |
