Red Start/Stop Button easy install

I ordered this Red Start/Stop Button https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09KRRMRSL over the weekend since I'm beasting to do a few mods to the m240i and all my parts seem to be on backorder.

Super easy install. It came with some kind of double sided tape that was never going to work.

So I heated up a glue stick with a torch lighter from a distance (didn't want to darken the glue with soot, just let the heat get it melted)

Smushed it on the button like the picture below. Let it completely cool. Quick yank straight up pulled it out in one try.

Press new button in and done!

Glue stick peeled right off the oem button and left no damage behind.

Thanks for sharing this. My car is still in production, but I just ordered one in blue to match the contrast stitching on my seats.

How is the original button held on? does it have clips or is it glued on there? If you wanted to reinstall the original one, would it be easy? Thanks for the post.

So there are 3 clips like the picture below. Left, right, and rear.

To reinstall just do the exact same thing. Glue stick and pull up. Push old one back in until it clicks.

My obsessive-compulsive disorder cannot accept that the ENGINE text has spaces that look like ENG-I-NE

Apart from the fact that i've seen photos in other subforums in here that show how it brights in night and it clearly shines very different than rest of buttons.

I would pay a biiiig extra if we could get real M button cars, however AFAIK, they cannot be bought separately... so bad luck for now.

I found this one while I was looking. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Red-Car-Eng...-127632-2357-0

Looks like they problem is solved, I just didn't want to wait on the slow boat from China. Already waiting for my other parts and wanted to do something

Edit looking at that ebay pic. Light comes through like you said. So option is better text and worse light, or little off text and normal light.

My pic was at night after I did it and light through letters matched the rest of the buttons

Yeah indeed this new one you just posted is ABS painted , look at the detail in the photo I link

I'm quite sure that if it is simply painted, then it will lose the red soon after and even the letters may not be well painted in the drilled part of the text

It's interesting that nobody was able to get the original ones from M3,M4 that are NOT sold alone but that some chinese place has access to the original ones on some remote factory LOL.
