The 1, 3, 6, 7 series use wheels with a 72.6mm centerbore while the 5-series use 74mm. I guess you could purchase centering rings if you really wanted to make it work.

What are the sizes and offsets of the wheels that you're interested in?

the E39 is the only 5 series that had a 74.1 centerbore, except some of the X5...... most of the others are 72.6

Most of the 5 series applications will not work properly. The offsets for the rear might work in some instances, but the front will be very aggressive......

Ah my mistake, you are correct.

E60 offsets are often too aggressive for E90s. However, depending on the offsets, you may be able to fit them if you rolled your front fenders. The rears have a better chance of fitting than the front.

What are the offset and width of the wheels you're looking at?

If you have an E60 XI then those wheels might fit.
