Clutch & Turbo break in
My car has been down for a few months since I blew my turbos, whoopsie daisy on that one. The engine is coming out and im getting it walnut blasted, clutch upgraded to steel stage 3+, turbos upgraded to RB 2 plus, and any other "while im in there" items that I have not recently done. I know that to break in a clutch its usually 300 to 500 miles of mixed driving at varying loads, and not a constant highway speed as that can get the disk to glaze. I read in a few places that you want to be relatively easy on the turbos for the first hundred miles or so, but nothing concrete there.
The big question is, how can i properly break in both? I am thinking about driving around town for 500 miles, with a base map tune for the stuff i got on the car (JB4 MHD BEF Hybrid ) Then afterwards reach out to a tuner and proceed from there. Just want to make sure I am in the correct train of thought.

As far as the turbos go....make sure you prime them before you start the car for the first time. Other than letting them come up to the proper temp...there really isn't any break-in to do on them.
Like you said.....as for as the clutch goes, just drive it easy for a few hundred miles..... |
