New twin turbo diesel engine

When do you think BMW will either modify or bring out a new engine for the 335d? Then changed the engine for the 330d surely it is time to change the twin turbo?

yeh i think so, 335d is such a laggy engine, so many people want a 320d because of its high revs, maybe one day everyone will be driving these 320d's not the slow 335d's maybe a little faster when remapped but thats it lol
i think there are bringing out a 222bhp 335d next year lol:ha ppyanim:

18 months from now mate.

The 330d engine has been around in the current model since 2005, so 3 and half year facelift. 335d in the coupe in sep 2006.

That new 330d in the facelift cars is all new isn't it? Aluminium construction rather than cast iron? Might be talking shite though.

I thought the latest 330d engines were brand new, with more power and MPG, only been out a couple of months. Read a review in the Sunday Times about a month ago.

Thats going to move things on a bit. I guess the 335i will get the same engine from the 330i albeit with turbos soon?

I doubt they'll use the 330i block on a new 335i version, they chose the old 330i block because the new one wasn't suitable.

Next generation 335D

Will BMW change all their diesel engines to fourth-generation common-rail injectors? Will we see 3,000 bar injection pressure (43,511 psi)?

What about variable geometry bi-turbo?

Flat Diesel Torque Curve

Is there a way to make diesel combust much faster in order to flatten the diesel engine's torque curve at higher rpm (above 2,500 rpm)? It would nice to see over 400 lb/ft of torque from the 335D at 4,500 rpm

Hmm... I've found info that the next 3.0 biturbo diesel will have 299hp/600NM...

But a new x40d (or x45d, not sure) will be a 3.0 triturbo diesel with 350hp/700NM.

I want a twin turbo 2.0l in my 320 Touring, ie the engine in the 123d 1 Series! All this talk of 6clys and twin turbos makes me feel inadequate!!
