Is there a way to get a radio volume display?

I'm building a stereo for my 335d and realized I'm going to have a difficult time setting gains. The normal way I do it is to measure a reference volume that is clean from the HU, then use that to set gains on the rest of the amps with an oscilloscope. I usually have a couple settings in the DSP (depending on type of music, volume, and mood). Each setting has a max volume that I keep in mind (for safety of the gear).
But if I don't have any kind of reference, that's going to make this a real pain. I suppose I could count button presses from zero or something, but that's kind of dumb when most makers give you some kind of indication of where you are in the allowable volume range.
Is there a way to get the car to show me a number? I've looked through BG ProTool hoping there was something in the coding, but I didn't see anything.

the above is at the end of the pro radio file.
I think the second to last one may do what you want probably a similar
setting in one of the idrive files.

There is also the hidden mode not sure if that does anything as far
as setting volume thought it displayed the number of clicks to full volume
though.

If you had a scope and a tone you could always measure actual voltage out.

Most people just do this by ear.

I have idrive, but this is hugely helpful.. I'll dig around in there and see if I see anything similar to these. I do have a scope and will be using it to look at the clean output, but I want some number from inside the car to tie it to. If this was going to be a one-time thing, I wouldn't worry about it. But I'm constantly adding/changing gear and tweaking things. I keep notes on what I'm doing so I don't get lost and it's nice to have a volume setting I can easily recall.
Thanks again for the solid info.

the trouble with the turn it to the end is there is no end stop when it maxes out at least on the pro radio .
I take it on the idrive , at least on some of them , it provides you with a volume bar.

Unfortunately, most of links seem to be broken. I did google the hidden service menu, though.
I'm not sure what the "it" is in your last statement. I have idrive and there's no volume bar, so are you saying that one of the above links does something to provide a volume bar? Or were you just saying that some idrive units may have it already?

Just a follow-up for posterity's sake, I can find no way to get a volume display. I've spent hours combing through coding menus and the car's options and it seems like they just don't want you to have a "feature" that's standard on every other car on the planet.
