I broke down on the motorway
Hello. This weekend I drove from Manchester to the lakes. Never had a problem with my 325i. It's done 78,000 miles now.
Was cruising at about 75mph. Traction control light started flashing. Then it was loosing power. Had to pull up on the hard shoulder. Turned it off and on and manged to make it to the service station. Had my OBD2 on me so scanned the car and got these codes FF00. 2AA8. 2A2F. I cleared the codes and finished the journey off to the lakes taking it easy. I believe 2AA8 is something to do with the DISA? On the way back from the lakes. Same thing happened. Started loosing power and showing traction light. I ended up Turing DTC off and dropping the speed for the rest of the journey. Idk if it made much of a difference but made it home. Any suggestions of where to start with this. Should I just go ahead and replace the DISA. I've read somewhere 325i only has one where as 330i has 2, a big one and a small one. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks |

This is a weird issue but the fact that the traction control light is blinking leads me to believe you have an issue with one of the wheel speed sensors. It's likely reporting too high or too slow of a speed and the car thinks the car is slipping and starts cutting power.
Do you have a tool that can read the speed of each wheel in live data? This might be useful to begin the diagnostics. Your codes don't necessarily line up with any of the issue that you experienced but that doesn't mean they aren't a problem you need to look into. I am not familiar with the differences in the Euro 325i, but in the states a 325i doesn't have any DISA valves as here the 325i was only built for 1 year and had the single stage intake. |
