I wish they'd make it with a manual, but this is still an insanely impressive performer for the price/class. Makes me excited for the next gen M2... this chassis with an S58, RWD and three pedals will be insane.

Makes me wonder if their car's breaks are just worn, or if they're really noticeably underpowered. Fluid and a set of pads to swap for track days are worthwhile upgrades anyway

I haven't had a chance to watch the review yet so I may be speaking out of context, but within the first 500 miles I did have a near scare with the car not breaking as well as I thought it should. My passenger was actually freaked out because it seemed like I was not going to break, but in fact I was! So underpowered? I can believe it. Note in the example above I might have been going 20-25 slowing down for a traffic light.

I always like Smoking Tire's reviews. It's great to hear that BMW continues to make big improvements in their suspension tuning, which was a real weakness of the F gen cars. I look forward to the M2.

Once again a reference was made to Car & Driver's "lightning lap". Numbers quoted, and comparisons made. And once again it was not mentioned that the test car at that event had only one set of tires and those happened to be chewed up run flats. Every other car at that event was spec'd with the best tire package available for each respective model. The individual that dropped the ball for BMW at that test should have his or her nose relentlessly rubbed in that mistake. A disservice was done.

I personally liked this review of the car better than others. I have been following TST for a long time and their blessing, AKA a good review, means a lot to me. the cons regarding the space doesn't really apply to me since I'm not 6ft (unfortunate ), but the pros they listed are really good. I just hope they had a "well used" press car because the brake feel kind of worries me. I would probably do the basic fluid, lines, and pads anyways when I get the car as I plan on tracking it as well. watching all these reviews are detrimental to me as it makes me impatient and wanting my car to arrive quicker.
another point of controversy is the 0-60 times... I remember reading some articles stating that some 0-60 included rollout and the BMW standard did not. can someone else clarify? |

stein: thanks for posting the review.
Well done review by these guys. I had similar reactions, weighted steering but it did not reflect the tire loading in a corner. I also felt the brakes were not up to the speed and weight of the car. I have put enough miles on and did break in the pads. I will be upgrading pads and fluid. |

The car in the video has the Cooling and HP tire package which comes with the additional oil cooler and the 893M wheels if that is what you are referring to.

I’m not sure what they messed up with the seat. I’m Matt’s height and I literally was saying to myself yesterday, wow there’s so much headroom here even with the moonroof. Matt seemed confused as well remembering it differently from another drive.

What's surprising is that braking power was not a limiting factor in the Lightning Laps, it was traction because of worn tires. Really curious what the M Pro pack with those tires and larger brakes could have done. You'd expect maybe a second or two less on the lap?

Is there a different set of brake pads offered with the red brake calipers? |

In other regions, there is a clear distinction between the standard brakes vs the upgraded brakes (included in the M pro package in other regions) As far as choosing the red calipers, its a no-cost option in the US and the color doesn't dictate a different brake type. Again, I am not sure if its different in other countries. |
