Piece of mickey mouse flange fell in coolant hose

I everyone, so I was in the process of replacing the mickey mouse flange and a part fell in the hose. I tried to catch it but it fell pretty far. I was wondering If I could maybe use a vaccum cleaner or somekind of shopvac to suck the little piece, or do I really need to completely remove the hose to get to the piece. Or maybe you guys have other ideas.

My car is a 335xi 2009 6mt if that is of any help.

You might try the shop vac with success but you may have to step up efforts to grab it. I'd try pointing that end of the hose to ground with the idea that coolant will flow with it out. Worst case scenario you'd just take the hose of the tstat. clamp it close to the tstat with a vice grip of some sort before it has chances to go any further.

Will the pressure of the shopvac damage the tstat? I'm pretty sure it will not but you never know with these flimsy machines

Just remove the whole hose. No big deal. Don't run the car until the piece is removed, though. High probability it will destroy your $$$ electronic waterpump. Or worse.

Easier to get under and just disconnect the bottom end of that hose let gravity take it out maybe pour some water down it

That happened to me, but I was able to aim the coolant hose down and it came out with gravity
