BimmerTech AMP and Speakers Package
I have a 2012 E90 LCI - vin = WBAPP16040NN41947
My car has the BASE audio system without the dedicated amplifier in the trunk. I want to replace all of the speakers and install an amplifier with a DSP in it that is capable of removing the bad equalisation that my head unit is putting out to compensate for the terrible base speakers. I have been looking at all sorts of options and guides. However, many of the guides are very old and use things such as the JL Audio Cleansweep or the Fix 86 which seem redundant these days now that some companies have AMPs which also have a DSP to do the job. I am wanting to hear from anyone who has invested in the full package from BimmerTech that is:
- How was the installation? - Was it worth the cost? - Did they not provide anything that you needed? I looked at retrofit options but I like the idea of aftermarket as I can undo it when I sell the car and move the system into another vehicle or sell it on. |

Bimmertech amp/dsp and Bavsound amp/dsp are rebranded
AudioTech Fisher 86dsp and BMW7 amps respectively and are good stuff. Don't know why you would buy a Signal flattening device such as the Fix when and amp DSP will accomplish the same thing. If you are OK with doing a DSP tune I would go rigtht to the Audio Tech fisher site. |

So I have done some digging and there is a supplier here that sells the DSP 86 (I am in Asia Pacific). However, even after 30% off the retail price here which is he offering, it is the same price as the BimmerTech AMP. I'm new to this scene but I am tech savy and handy so I'm sure I could learn. However, it seems like a lot of people online have commented about BimmerTech having good support when working out different tunes etc. With the price being the same I would assume that the BimmerTech system would be better value as support tells me they include all of the extra wiring you will need to adapt it to a stock system? If I went with the AMP straight from AudioTec Fischer I would also probably need to get a technic hardness and some power wiring etc for the amp which further adds to the cost of the setup right? |

Yeah I would go with Bimmertech in that case as you will get some extra
support. They have some stock tunes and some for aftermarket speakers to I understand and they allow you tune the system whereas Bavsound does not. I think audiotec fisher also supplys a harness of some sort. You might save some money on going to the Audiotech Speakers though. I would run aftermarket power wires in any case though . Don't know if bimmertech supply's those. Bimmertech has a good Rep for customer service . There are some reviews here and testimonials. Was it worth the Cost question comes to how much Music and sound matters to you. In the case of the base and hi fi system it comes down to how much you can stand to live with a crap system in your nice car. Last edited by ctuna; 02-25-2022 at 11:47 AM.. |

Don't know Bavsound techs or Audio Fischer techs. However, I feel that all else being equal (like cost) , I wholeheartedly endorse Bimmer-tech. There techs are on point and very available. Helped me every step of the way. They easily (after you allow them) remotely, get into your cars coding and AMP's coding. Could not imagine a better outfit.
And, Bimmer-tech is true plug and play. They provide all the harnesses you need. Very impressed. |
