is that a Magden M.1? (http://www.magden-auto.com/)
I had looked into this a few months ago, pretty nifty... did you end up using extra hardware sensors or are you doing everything over OBDII? Looking forward to seeing some pics of it running on the screen |

Looks great!
Question: how does it interface with the idrive in my 335i? Are there cables hidden in the dash somewhere. Since your company is in CA i would have to do this install myself. Carl |

it does look great but why is there a thread for a different thread?
As for the interface, i don't think it actually interfaces with the idrive, i believe it just uses the screen (taps into some wires) to display the obdII info. hence the need for an external remote/buttons/trackball.

The 'Data acquisition' is a really a wonderful device for the BMW car with iDrive. For non-iDrive car( like mine), I suggest two options for the display.
1) Use the radio screen. The radio screen support six item in the first level, and then every item can be showed in detail in secondary level. 2)Use the current avaiable PDA as the display device which use bluetooth to communicate with data acquisition device. That means you only need provide a application running on PDA. I really prefer the option 1, since it is the seamless solution |

If BMW did have a touchscreen you would access the Magden M.1 directly like a factory solution and not have to install any external remote/buttons/trackball. Overall, it's a shame it can't be manouvered and accessed via the use of the idrive Wheel. Last edited by Sparky66; 12-10-2008 at 08:39 AM.. |
