I use to watch these guys. I like Jakob, but Yuri is a tool. I checked out the Supra last year. Liked the car but it was way to claustrophobic for me. The 240i checked all the boxes for me. Great daily driver, visibility excellent, fast, comfortable, more usable space and the list goes on.

if anything they should be comparing the Supra to the Z4 M40i , both 2 seaters, both real wheel drive....
I'm not saying that the M240i is spacious but you can put kids and adults you don't like in the back seat, and you can drive in any weather condition... and because it's more of a car and daily driver, i think the looks are good, the supra being a 2 seater.. it should look exotic.. they're different cars for different audiences. If the 240i had some crazy design elements, it'd feel gimmicky like a hyundai or something.. i like the fact it sill looks like a grown ups car, in some colors. |

Honestly I'm gonna consider the Supra for my next car. Comes in loaded in the mid-$50ks and is pretty much a BMW product that's been tuned to actually have good steering...
Downsides are the Toyota badge, overstyled design, and possibly claustrophic interior.

I looked at both cars before choosing the m240 and think in part it comes down to your needs. Apparently the straight pipes guys just think burnouts, doughnuts and drifting are the main boxes to check.
In the conclusion of the savagegeese review, what they said captured this decision well in my opinion. If you are looking more for a weekend fun car, go supra. If you want a more of a daily driver or need that AWD for snow / rain go with the m240i. I think there is a lot of love about he looks of the supra, and the familiar BMW i-drive and powertrain are pluses. In the end, I was not just looking for a weekend car. My turbo Miata satisfies that need for me for now. |

Those are my personal reasons why I may not pull the trigger. But I'd certainly test drive them and take the car seriously if I enjoy how it drives and find it comfortable enough for daily commuting duties.

It's all personal preference - I never liked the new Supra's looks. It was better in person and I did enjoy sitting in it, but the outside is a little much for me.
I do wonder if they'll be able to tune in the pops and bangs into the M240i b/c it's fun to be obnoxious sometimes. |

I totally understand the desire to have a rear wheel drive car, but it is not like the M240i is a front wheel drive Camry. I specifically purchased this car because it is rear biased all wheel drive. I took the Supra out on a test drive when it was first released. I remember thinking how unremarkable it was, I was so disappointed. Perhaps it is because I was just driving a mid-engine car with a carbon fiber tub, but it was slower than other RWD cars that I had at that time. At that point, I didn't know about the potential of the B58 and now I have a lot more respect for the Supra. The Supra is a great car. I remember all the trash spewed toward the Supra when it first came out...just a BMW, why didn't you get a C8, etc...
The M240i is also a great car, it is interesting because as a whole it is a really interesting package, x-drive, coupe, B58. It's the underdog in a lot of ways, but it's also very special. Its way more satisfying to make a quick car blisteringly fast, than to buy a car and never touch it. It is going to be so interesting watching where the car community will take this car. Three years from now people will be in love with this car, everything is going hybrid or electric, this will probably be the last new platform that is a small form factor non-hybrid B58. The I4 M50 is 5000lbs! Light cars, manual cars, enthusiast cars are all getting phased out for SUVs. Before long, laws and inspections will require DRM-like control over all car components eliminating any kind of modifications. With that said, drive what makes *you* happy and be thankful that we have any enthusiast geared cars available even if they are not your favorite. |

Supra was just way too much of a pillbox for me, and you can tell they cut corners on the interior to save costs. You might as well pay a bit more for a Z4. I ended up with an M240, lol.

I considered the Supra. And if I had two cars and I was in the market for an affordable, fun, sporty, weekend car, the Supra would be a strong consideration.
But I need a daily driver that is also sporty fun, so the M240i got my vote. This is EXACTLY what the guys on Savagegeese said at the end of their more thoughtful and through (compared to The Straight Pipes) review of the M240i. Mine’s on the boat. Can’t wait! Bob |

I went from a Supra to the M240i. While the Supra would be a better race car, the M240 wins in any other category. It's better daily, better interior, better in all weather, loads more grip. The Supra interior doesn't feel like a 50k+ car imo. Little things like no interior lighting, the sound system is awful, the fake plastic bits and the fake exterior vents everywhere. Not to mention it's tiny and you can't see out of it.
If you wanted a pure dedicated track/race car, sure the Supra wins. In any other scenario I think the 240 wins. |
