Noise after Pulleys and Vargas Crankshaft Seal Guard Install

As the title says, I'm getting a weird sound after replacing my pulleys and serpentine belt. I torqued the pulleys to 38Nm and the tensioner to 40Nm. I also installed the Vargas crankshaft seal guard at the same time - could the sound be the guard rubbing on the crankshaft pulley? There was zero noise prior to me replacing the pulleys and the belt - I only did it as preventive maintenance since I'm at 120k miles.

I would definitely take off that crank pulley and inspect

I'm planning to, but I don't have time/tools to do it for the next few days. Even if the crank seal guard is rubbing it's probably not a big deal since it's made out of aluminum and will just wear down. Regardless, I'll report back when I discover the source of the sound.

Did you ever find out what the noise was? I am also getting this noise after new belt and crank seal guard. It only happens after engine is hot (>20 miles driving). When I first installed the crank seal guard I took the pulley back off to see if there was any signs of crank seal guard or bolts rubbing against the pulley, there was no rubbing. It couldn’t have started rubbing a few 100 miles later.

I think the top part of the seal guard is slapping against the block because there’s nothing to hold the top part.

Did you ever figure out what the problem was? I’m having the exact same issue after doing the crank seal guard, tensioner, pulleys, and serpentine belt!

Just left it like that and I think the pulley shaved off the crank seal guard a bit. No noise now.

Ahh that’s a releaf, I’ve been thinking about it nonstop for some time. If you don’t mind me asking how long did the process take before the noise went away? Video of mine after instillation for reference : YT Short

It took like 4-5k miles before it stopped but it did not sound like a tick like yours. Mine was more metallic scraping/rattling kind of noise. Your problem might be a pulley.
