weird design. seems like they copied VAG with the lightbar tail too. the vents at the rear just reduce trunk space as well.
also i'm not sure if anyone thinks of lotus when want comfort and build quality. it would be like bentley entering the sports car market.

Take notes BMW, this is how to execute split headlights/drls. (Genesis still takes the cake).
Interested in seeing this in final form.

Never thought I'd see the day of Lotus producing an SUV. They likely had no choice.
The design is Lambo-esque, but lacks a true brand identity IMO. Kind of just looks like some generic EV CUV rendering.

Looks great actually. This is obviously not an SUV. I don’t know how to call these new EVs… perhaps bloated hatchbacks? In any case, this will sell like hot cakes.

Interesting, has a lot of Urus vibes going on but not bad in my opinion, although looks a bit too stretched past the rear door. Rear light treatment looks great. The thing is though, who in the hell wants a Lotus SUV? Especially an electric one at that? Lotus has always been a niche brand and if anything their customers are true car enthusiasts who want a lightweight sports car and a stick. With a lack of dealer networks and marketing I can't see this car doing much for Lotus, but hey, it is an SUV afterall, and if you can't sell one of those you'd have to be pretty incompetent.

With this and the Purosangue…Colin Chapman and Enzo Ferrari just made eye contact in the afterlife and said…."man, fuck these guys"

I don't know much about Lotus' history. But I believe sure Enzo Ferrari only succumbed to producing road cars in order to fund his racing program. So I'm pretty confident he would scoff at the Purosangue, as the company is already funding its Scudiera Ferrari F1 program comfortably and doesn't need an SUV.

Does the "just slap a tablet in it and call it a day" dash design that is so prevalent (damn you Elon) strike anyone else as just lazy, uninspired, and boring or am I just entering that grumpy stage of life where I hate anything different?

I agree with uninspired and boring... but it's not so much lazy as it is a conscious decision to cut manufacturing costs. It's a lot easier (and thus cheaper) to manufacture all encompassing tablets as opposed to a bunch of individual buttons.

I like nothing about this vehicle except the rear executive seats. The Eletre is not on my consideration list by a wide margin.

I just now saw that China is 51% of Lotus. I'm out, unfortunately, but I've got limits. Anything CCP is the number one limit. No worries.

SUVs from Lambo and Porsche sell because those companies have consistently been building legendary aspirational vehicles for 60+ years...even people who know absolutely nothing about cars, and refuse to sacrifice the comfort and convenience necessary to drive a sports car from one of those companies, still want to be associated with those brands. While Lotus has made aspirational cars over the years, it has never really been able to break out of the fringe hardcore enthusiast realm that is virtually invisible to non-car people. So I don't think people will suddenly start buying Lotus SUVs en mass like they did with Cayennes and Macans and Uruses.

Reviews seem very lukewarm. The interior and tech are nice, but the exterior design is quite ordinary for the price and driving dynamics [like all EVs] seem ho-hum; fast and capable but not "engaging" to drive.
Lotus will really have to step up its marketing efforts and dealership network. Even here in LA there's just 1-2 dealers and they're far from where most people reside.
