I think the BMW DNA of old has slowly been creeping back the last generation of cars. The F90 is absolutely insane for everything it can do, and so well. It's shown up in the G80, and even the i4, and now filtering down to the 2. The M2 I assume is going to be bonkers good.

The one thing these cars lack is steering feel. Some BMW's like the M2 CS have great steering, but with most other cars it's a mixed bag ranging from it sucks to it's OK. AFIK the M2 CS has the same rack as the M2 Comp so it comes down to putting in the R&D and then nothing more than software programming. If they want to get more praise and sell more cars they should dial this in already. EPS has been out long enough that there is no excuse anymore for a car manufacturer like BMW. In fact they should have been one of the first ones to dial out the numb dead feel.

Nice review.... again. Actually, the one fun/luxury car to own at an affordable cost is this one.

I'am just so sad that since covid, we're all asked to work from home and the local offices, instead of commuting to the central HQ. This almost totally eliminated the need for a second car in our household! While this is a huge cost saving opportunity, it also demolishes my hopes to get this car. Actually for the very rare occasions I still use a car, a Toyota Aygo would be best fit.

Exactly. This is why I was so pleasantly surprised. They did an incredible job making a 2+ ton AWD auto box a joy to drive. My point being if they can make this thing fun, I'm sure the next gen M2 will be amazing. I only had a couple short drives in the OG M2, and it was bliss. Improving on that will be difficult, but what they've done recently gives me hope.

The recent design language is another story though…
