Confirms my thinking that the m240 is an absolute bargain (and probably running more than 374bhp from the factory). Also no issues with brakes once bedded in it seems

I have an M4 en route, but have decided not to sell my M240i just yet. Want to make sure the M4 is worth the additional 35k, or I'll just keep the M240i. I honestly have my doubts. The B58 sounds better than the S58, and I've been reading that the S58 suffers from some pretty bad turbo lag, which I am not a fan of.

Not even half a car's length with the RS3! M240 looks to be a bit of a weapon for being an M"light"

G42 has locked ECU. Sending to femto only way to tune, and it ain't cheap. JB4 is nice piggy back alternative l, but limited on what you can actually do. My biggest gripe with new BMWs is the damn ECU encryption.

M240 is more bang for the buck indeed, but its not quite apples to apples with the RS3. Im very curious to see what the new m2 will be capable of if the m lite is already so impressive! |

Agreed, I'm also excited to see the M2, but to that point, comparing the m240i to the rs3 isn't correct than either. It should be compared to cars in it's price range, like the cla35, and S3.

M240 really deserves its own category! Fwiw I feel the Golf R is deserving as well. |

M2 RWD will not be that much quicker in 1/4 mile. It will be more of a track car. To be fair there are very few cars that can put up a fight with a modded RS3.

No matter which is faster, to me, the Audi is a much better looking car. I'd buy it over the M240i, which IMO looks plain and uninspired.

- Side profile -- BMW wins hands down, much sportier looking as it's a coupe - Rear -- BMW's is more aggressive, but uglier due to the spaced tails (but can be remedied a bit with the M spoiler), Audi wins - Front -- Both are aggressive, but the Audi's looks like a big open mouth, and very odd with a thiccc US plate in the middle. The BMW's is polarizing, but I feel it wins here too with normal sized kidney grills and some aggressive shapes. |

I have only driven BMWs for the past 18 years, always thought they were the best in their class design wise, now not so much. They are either too much or not enough. Apart from the M5, X5 I wouldn't buy any BMW. |

To each their own, but IMO there is nothing extravagant going on with the new RS3's styling if we are comparing it to the M240i. I think both are attractive cars and I personally considered both previously. I just don't think you can call the BMW plain and uninspired and not say the same about the Audi.

The B58 has a lower boost threshold (around 2000 rpm) and feels stronger on first input on the throttle (just like N55 vs S55), but when you push hard you can really feel - and appreciate - the difference between a normal engine and a true M engine and in terms of driving the G82's chassis tuning is literally on another level than the (really good) M240i. It is simply an M-car, between the two I'd keep the M4, no doubt. Probably driving around town the B58 might be more enjoyable though. In terms of turbo lag, the Audi's 5-pot is terrible, it's never ready when you push on the throttle and is quite annoying. BTW ![]() |

The baby m-lite car is punching above it's weight for sure. I considered the new rs3, but ended up ordering a g80 xdrive.
